Right, again, when the patch appears with an empty or default name, it is usually because the plugin doesn't implement getProgramName(). You can see the same behavior if you load your plugin in Live, it won't show the name of the current patch loaded in the plugin.
NI won't fix Kore, but if enough users insist they might open the ksd format - then it could be possible to automate the ksd -> vip conversion.

FYI, turns out this only happens when using the standalone version of VIP - the NI stuff works fine in the plugin version.gnosis123 wrote:I noticed that using any NI plugs with VIP -- aside from Kore and Reaktor -- causes VIP to immediately blow chow (whether the plugs are in VIP or Kore-within-VIP). This didn't happen at first (at least not with Massive and Absynth), so not sure what's going on.

Maybe that explains something I see with Alchemy: I can add presets one at a time, but auto import does nothing. Loading Alchemy in Live shows the initial preset name, but it doesn't get updated when I step through the presets…Big Tick wrote:Right, again, when the patch appears with an empty or default name, it is usually because the plugin doesn't implement getProgramName(). Yes, exactly. Unfortunately, even though this would be easy to fix for Camelaudio, it is unlikely to happen now.

On a tangential note, the Omnisphere plugin map (which I assume was designed for Omni 1) pulls in about 4k patches from my Omni 2 installation, which seems too low, even leaving out the Omni 2 presets. Was the plugin map populated by hand, given that Omni has a proprietary db? If so, will the plugin map be updated with the full monty, including the O2 stuff at some point?

I'm not sure how it was made, but yes, probably manually. I know that O2 is at the top of the list for the future updates.gnosis123 wrote:Was the plugin map populated by hand, given that Omni has a proprietary db? No demo, I guess because they don't want people to judge it while only having half of the experience - it really screams to be used with the hardware. Maybe your nearest Guitar Center has a setup with VIP ?trusampler wrote:Is there any software demo's out for the V.I.P. software

Cool. I submitted a request to Spectrasonics to implement getProgramName(), which if they do it soon may speed up the task for whoever at Akai has to enter in all those presetsBig Tick wrote:I know that O2 is at the top of the list for the future updates.

I got my 49 key at guitar center. Picked it up a week ago. I'm not sure if my VIP is working properly, but it's been more frustrating than inspiring musically. There's terrible navigation, especially changing plugins is a pain. Often, the plug in I select on the controller doesn't reflect what the software displays on screen. It's like the software doesn't talk back and forth with the keyboard. I was used to this in maschine, but really, this has been more difficult to get to work than I wish to bother with. VIP also freezes up when trying to switch plug ins. This is not good for browsing

Haven't seen any of that myself (running on a Mac, OS 10.8.5).zombieskank wrote:I got my 49 key at guitar center. Picked it up a week ago. That's now how it is supposed to work. Bring it up with Akai support. Maybe you have 2 different instances loaded and the hardware is controlling a different one than the one you are looking at on the computer.zombieskank wrote:I got my 49 key at guitar center. No, it's mostly when I run stand alone vip. When I run it in ableton, it works pretty well. I'm also noticing it has a 17% cpu with some reaktor ensembles usage on my i7 4790k when I'm not plYing anything. Not sure if this is supposed to be like this, but it never ate that much in other programs. It's on a release version, so I'm expecting it will get ironed out. But, I hoped and waited, and finally sold my maschine because I was waiting for them to fix or add basic intuitive functionality. Also, no way to change colors on the pads?
