You were right about that, Waves VST3 shell do that - you have to end process on it, and seem not to crash to windows if closing project first.
Normal Waves VST shell seems ok for me.
I just put a support ticket on it - guess they are flooded with those maybe.

Just knowing about it, one can work with VST3 shell too, but project does not end up in recently used.

Check out Kraznet's channel on YouTube.
Tons of Samplitude tutorials and history there.

I demo'd Samplitude a few months ago for 30 days and there were a lot of great features. The mix engine sounds great and the surround panner is fantastic. However, there were three major issues that after talking to tech support there were no current at that time fixes for.

1. The bit bridge is borderline non-functional. You might be able to load a 32-bit plugin or two, but there's a good chance the DAW will crash, and the DSP management for them was terrible. One instance on a surround mix of a 32-bit surround IR reverb crashed the DSP management.

2. They were having issues with ilok compatibility and half of my ilok plugins wouldn't scan.

3. The overall DSP management was pretty bad. I tried loading in 10 audio tracks that I had done a mix for in another DAW to see how it would mix in Samplitude with a 5.1 mix from both. I seriously couldn't use more than 7 plugins before the DSP would cap out and there would be audio dropouts.

Talked to their tech support (after having to spend $13 to get them to talk to me) and they confirmed all three issues and didn't have an answer for the last one and they said their bit bridge was a 'last resort' for 32-bit plugins and they didn't recommend using them.

I also couldn't register for their forums and after three months of trying to get registered after several emails and two phone calls, I gave up. The company as a whole seems to be poorly managed and maybe if they get a little more organized I'll reconsider taking them seriously. It is a shame though, as I really liked what I did see in terms of the 5.1 functionality and overall mixing capabilities minus those issues.

I had the same problem, try going to https://support2.magix.com/customer/en/request and raise a ticket, it worked for me and someone contacted me and created an account. It does seem silly we cannot register on their forums, maybe they have fixed it since I raised the ticket a few days back.

With regard to the registration problems I emailed one of my contacts at Magix and this is the reply he gave me
the entry into the forum has some hurdles to verify that you are a real life person. So the registration first run into validation which awaits your reaction in clicking on the validating link sent via email to you. If you don't do this (SPAM, forgotten etc...) you still be kept in the validating queue.
If any of you still had problems getting in the forum after trying what he said above let me know and I will pursue things further.

Hi Kraznet,

I never actually received any email about registration from the forum, I tried different browsers, computers and using a couple of different email addresses, nothing worked until I contacted support directly and they created the account on my behalf.

Thanks,

Andrew.

I can't register on forum either, the create account submit does not even go through.
Tried different browsers and different security checks.
It stays on Waiting for support2.magix.net forever.

Now it came through, and activation ok too, thanks to whom ever....

On the forum, some users have reported better Bridge performance when using windows 8.1. I'm on W7 and though Bridges work, I stick to using x86 plugs with x86 app, and vice versa for x64. It has required a bit of DLL management to setup but I have no performance problems.
Akanishta wrote: 2. They were having issues with ilok compatibility and half of my ilok plugins wouldn't scan.
This was fixed in the latest patch, 13.1.3.176

This doesn't sound right. How many cores was Samp allocated to use in the settings, and how many physical/HT cores does your machine have? There are a few other things that could influence this. PM me if you want to one-on-one about it.

Yes I thought performance was worse than cubase (see original post) but after setting cores things hell of a lot better. I think cube has the edge but it's fairly minimal now.

Cubes boot time vs samps is like night and day however so pros and cons.

Can someone please tell me how to split MIDI notes to separate tracks in Samplitude Pro X2? I've searched high and low but can't seem to figure it out.

I bought Pro X2 and couldn't register at the forums either. That is pretty bad policy with the forums. I also had problems running lots of UAD plugins and a few other issues I can't even remember now. I gave up and stuck with Nuendo. I only use the software rarely to burn CDs now and that is it. Feel like I wasted $200.00 Shame but oh well.

You mean like splitting kick, and snare etc to separate tracks as midi?
I just do it on audio side, so didn't look.

But you can record midi out to another track - and use a midi filtering plugin.

And I think it was double click on a free area on that pitch in Matrix Editor, select the entire midi notes on that key - if cutting and pasting, or muting notes. Shift double click create a new event from that pitch.

Holding "H" key while dragging selected the move is pure vertical. If you can drag-n-drop this on another track maybe, not sure. Not at my daw now, but would try that.

And there are various display filters in the different midi editors, if that can help doing the same thing with the midi clip as it is.

But I guess you look for a function that do for you in a flash - I could not find one either. There is always limitations with daws that do this - controller 4 should follow hihat etc since it controls openess.
