Yep, back to TAL.
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Back then Highlife’s freeze/VSTi multi-sampling was a godsend. Back on topic: The new TAL-Sampler is interesting, anyone know which DAC encondig they emulate right from the beginning?
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

There is also a simple SFZ import for samples that imports the mapping and sample paths
Quick question: is the SFZ import fully compatible with the SFZ format? I'm not clear from the above quote if this is so. Many thanks.

My E-MU sampler can definitely sample, like every other E-MU sampler, and like every other real hardware sampler, be it an Akai, Roland, Yamaha, Emu, Ensoniq, etc.

That's why they were called... samplers :D
Host recording + dragndrop is fine, but directly sampling (+resampling!!) in the plugin can be more 'immediate'.... (e.g. press & release a note to record a sample on it, press & release 2 notes for a range)

I like that it can:
-load Akai sampler format files.
-save to SFZ

OK. Thanks!

If TAL-Sampler could load Yamaha A-3000 sampler files, I would most def put it on my shopping list

Are there any software sampler out there can read those files ? :help:

Was playing with this last night - bought. Very cool indeed. What I found fun was modifying the various parameters that made the sound "vintage" and for the EMU II emulation there are several - and they sound really good. From the manual it is because the processing is applied during the DAC processing, not at the end, by adding a decimator after the fact like many other VSTs do to make the sound vintage.
The stretch is very cool, and its realtime so you can modulate it.
matrix allows drag and drop from controls for assignments;
someone mentioned when loop end is before loop start it should go reverse but doesn't, the manual states this is the intended behaviour so maybe a bug which needs fixing
This plug has re-ignited my curiosity about how DACs work so spent most of last night poring over wikipedia articles about such things
