I was on 9.2.1 and switched on Automatic Updates and got to 9.2.3 (via 9.2.2), but even after a few restarts no 9.5.

Has everyone got this by downloading it directly from the Ableton web site?

I was on 9.2.3 and it wouldn't auto update for me either. So I just manually downloaded and installed. Maybe it only auto updates with sequential increments?

@ djscorb, fair point. TBH I don't usually update as soon as a release comes out just in case, but I just can't resist the Cytomic filter updates lol. Cheers

Actually, I'll wait a bit to see if does come through the Auto Update later out of curiosity. What your suggesting sounds likely.

That would make sense since small incremental changes are bug fixes, whereas this is a major update with feature changes that could potentially alter your existing works.

I will add that I've had no problems with my old projects, even where the old autofilter was used. The updated devices remain saved in legacy mode regardless of having already choosen to upgrade the device in other sets.

I have nothing that has broken any sets or functionality.

Push 1 + Push 2 is functional but its not a supported option (and I hope that's temporary though). The only thing I've encountered so far is that you can't save velocity curves on Push 2, while Push 1 is on. It doesn't overwrite back to default so not really a problem.

Didn't see this coming! Nice update and great to see (hear) more of Andy's work in Live 9.5!

I really appreciate these updates but i do want to say i hope Ableton will rework Live 9's horrible Browser next. The Live 9 browser works for Push users, but for normal keyboard+mouse day-to-day users it's a big step back from the ease of use in Live 8. I own both 8 and 9 but still work in 8 most.

Yeah, to be fair, they have implemented a few of the most requested feature requests in the last couple of years, but much is still to be done.

It really needs to allow more customisation and then people can taylor it to their needs and much of the criticism will subside. In particular, workflow related things such as customisable browser, shortcuts and key commands are badly needed. More preferences would go a long way to satisfying users. Everyone likes to work slightly differently and attempting a "one size fits all" approach to everything is doomed to failure, whilst making the transition from other software by new users far more difficult than it need be.

One thing that drives everyone I know absolutely nuts is the way Live sometimes selects everything on screen between loop points in the arrangement. I just can't imagine why anyone would want that behaviour. It often makes Live pause and stutter as it starts trying to work out what you might do with such a selection!

It is so rare that during a session you want to move everything in the arrangement at once. For the times you do, it's no big deal to zoom out and make the selection manually and precisely. The rest of the time you are constantly trying to deselect everything. A crazy idea that only a complete moron would dream up as a default behaviour when navigating an arrangement!

Since Live is now at 9.5, anyone want to venture a guess as to an ETA for 10? I plan on upgrading, but want to wait until the grace period from 9 to 10.

I know any feedback would be conjecture at this point, but I'm still curious what you think. Thanks.

If they just now released 9.5 it will be some time before we see 10, I'd guess this time next year. Version 10 will be BIG though, I'd rather them take their time.

With what they've eventually added to 9 Id imagine they are going to have some pretty huge things in 10. Its nice to see them adding in most things people thought should have been in 9 to begin with as point updates. These changes now make 9 a pretty huge update over 8

Thanks, folks. I just knew that Live 8 only made it to 8.4.2 before v9, thus the curiosity. I realize that doesn't mean a lot, however.

Live 8 was broken when they released it. Total nightmare. They spent years fixing it ... may be why it only made it to 8.4.2

If you mean customization of the browser, I'm with you on that.

If you mean customization of Live.... well, I don't know. I like more options to make my workflow the way I need it, but how many options do you add before you have Reaper (which is not swipe at Reaper as it is one of the hosts I also use).

As for the selection across the tracks... that is one of my biggest complaints too. I imagine they must of that it useful in the way that scenes are launched, but again... I agree I don't like that behavior.

Still, keep in mind that this is version 9.5. Which is to say that it is still the same as Live 9, but with new features... It is a major feature update. There's quite a bit they've added and quite a bit more to be added, but show me a host that the same can't be said about.
