Clearly music was his reason for being. Was suffering depression due to degenerative nerve damage of his right hand, which greatly inhibited his ability to play. So sad indeed.

Yeah, Karn Evil 9, Pirates and Fanfare for the Common Man are on my all time favorite songs list. Somewhere in the late 70s I saw them in LA. When the horns went off for Fanfare it was soul crushingly, spine tingly awesome. What a great artist.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

ELP played a big part in shaping my taste in music. I never had a chance to see them live. But I played the grooves off of their first live album during my teens. RIP, Mr. Emerson.
Gaslighting...is a form of mental abuse in which information is twisted or spun, selectively omitted to favor the abuser, or false information is presented with the intent of making victims doubt their own memory, perception, and sanity.

Its interesting that this gets a lot of attention - its just positive. But comparing to many other lately passed artists or prominent figures in the music busines... Tells not only about the passed talent but also about the Kvr users age cohort (?)

I'd contemplate suicide if I lost my right hand as well. Not that I have the dexterity in it that he did. As the saying goes, no one gets out of here alive. If you are in anguish with no hope for improvement then constantly struggling to survive is simply torture.

Hell, my right hand has only been good for one thing, and it ain't keyboards! I get what you're saying though, however, when supermen become mere mortals and then want to kill themselves they don't get a lot of sympathy from me. What I'd give to have the talents Keith Emerson had, for one single day of my life! That said, I have no problem with what he did, and his reason for doing so, who am I to tell someone they need to live, he probably made the best choice for himself.

If Keith's hand loss was the catalyst fueling something bigger which inevitably took his life, I still haven't read anything yet that supports that. So until we know what really happened to him...give it a rest.
....................Don`t blame me for 'The Roots', I just live here. :x

The show ending theatrics at the 1 hour 26 minute mark are just crazy.

We're free to speculate based on what we know. It has been reported he had been battling depression and degenerative nerve damage made it difficult for him to perform. It's okay to discuss and talk about what might have happened, it's not necessary to police the discussion.

Very sad that he could not, even at 71, still make the assumption.
