Sorry, I was away from the computer for a while - but dten pretty much explained it.

For a simple example (and that's just one out of many other possible configurations), say you want a transition for 4 tracks.

Scene1: Place clips on Track 1-4, delete "stop" from Track 5-8
Scene2: Delete "stop" from Track 1-4, place transition-clips on Track 5-8
Scene3: Place clips on Track 1-4, delete "stop" from Track 5-8
Scene4: Place clips on Track 1-4, keep "stop" on Track 5-8
Or an alternative for
Scene4: Delete "stop" from Track 1-4, keep "stop" on Track 5-8 (This scene coud be used universally).
You get the idea...

For transitions you should also experiment with the "Legato" setting of each clip, which makes a following clip start where the previous clip is currently playing.

I think in Live4 you will be able to configure and automate even more processes, since MIDI clips can be used to trigger other clips or scenes, much like with "deploy" modules on DR-008. At least that's what I understood from the announcement.

took me a couple read throughs on your explaination but I think I can see the benifits of deleting the stops.
would have never dreamed of doing that.

those are exactly the type of tips that give me the biggest help. kinda "work flow" tips.

I agree with the comment given earlier about Live being much like a "mega" sampler. in a strange way it kinda reminds me of an mpc type work flow minus the midi. could just be though.

Gotta read that part again in the manual??

I am one of those true blue ADD kids. I have never used a manual, ever. Believe it or not I learned logic simply cause I kept plugging away at it!

I havent read a book, except for art history books at my uni since I was a sophmore.

Oh by the way I tried the deleting stops last night. Beautiful! BIG fun.

anyways excellent tip!

caution on that Grex controller that motion was talking about, make sure you look it up do a search on the ableton Live forum, that company had some major ups and downs, alot of people paid money and received no product. I don't know the current state of the situation but definitely do the search over at ableton, lost of folks their who had the problems, and these weren't problems of performance, these folks never recieved their units even though they were charged. hopefully things have cleared up and turned positive for all involved cause the product looked interesting.

I am just curious about midi set-ups in live.

Trying to make a decision as to what midi controller I should go with based on other's functional midi set ups. Im using a oxygen8 which is very limiting. Looking at the evolution lines, been impressed by thier keyboard controllers so far. Anyone using thier knob boxes?

Also I am very curious as to what others are doing midi wise to maximize the work flow. I am a firm believer that is gonna be key for me to be able to put on a not so repetative set.

much love everyone

I'm using an remote 25, when it came out I was estatic about it, but it is difficult to program (i speak for myself)
that said it is very nice in the end. my only gripe is that I actualy wish it came with the knobs and faders as a separate piece from the keys, I'm finding that at least half the time I'd like the ability to just have a small fader/knob box to fudge with, I'll probably go for something like that when the funds permit.
