Battery 4 was released 4 years ago, that being said it doesnt mean that its old. I think its pretty normal for a plugin to have ~5-6 years span with only bug fixes and compatibility updates. As a musician that also shouldnt really matter. Alot of known producers even use older versions of DAWs simply because it works and they create music, instead of nitpicking for being not updated with new features.pc2000 wrote:NI, has abandoned most of the komplete package. It has become all about FX, Reaktor and Kontakt instruments and libraries. When was the last time you seen any updates or version upgrades for Guitar rig or Battery-4? My last upgrade was komplete 9. I have no intentions to bother with future upgrades unless they offer an actual komplete package beyond kontakt libraries, minor FX releases and Reaktor stuff.
What about a battery5? 4 versions in, and still no audio slicing. Groove Agent-4, has far more features and cost $20 less if you already have an elicenser. It may be time to rename the product to komplete NKS Kontrol!
No new Absynth?

I have plenty, let's say an army, of virtual synths (+ a Prophet 6 and some other hardware ones), and Absynth is still one of my favorite sonically.
Absynth would deserve an update, a better gui and better filters, but it still can create some of the most beautiful sounds you can dream about.

Zebra 2 has been updated a lot more in the past 10 years than Absynth has. Zebra 2 GUI can be resized... and there is a new GUI about to be released.egbert101 wrote:I count myself as one of those people who ignored Absynth for the following reasons:Kalamata Kid wrote: Not sure how accurately the number of discussion messages at the forum https://www.native-instruments.com/foru ... te-area.4/ reflect the user base but it looks like Absynth is more popular than Massive and FM8.
My feeling is that the Bigger and Better the Absynth 6 release is the more interest will be generated.
1) It was old.
2) It wasn't a typical analogue type synthesizer.
3) Because of the above two, it couldn't be good right?
So, it was only me changing my perspective, basically my interest in sountrack music that made me re-evaluate it. I had overlooked a gem, and now I understand completely the hopes and dreams of those who want this beast to have the update it deserves.
But then again, u-he Zebra 2 is even older than Absynth 5, when it was released in 2007. So, maybe there is still hope.
Absynth desperately needs a new GUI... not just for size and clarity, but a complete redo to also make it better workflow.

I would like it if NI made a new revisioned Absynth (but not in Reaktor)... a break from the past! So an Absynth 6 not preset compatible. Absynth 5 can live on for legacy purposes.inusable wrote:I have plenty, let's say an army, of virtual synths (+ a Prophet 6 and some other hardware ones), and Absynth is still one of my favorite sonically.

I agree with the GUI and workflow issues. I am used to work with software tools from companies like Mediatek and Qualcom, manufacturers of mobile phone platforms. Those tools are made by engineers for engineers, and when I open Absynth I sort of get the same feeling. It's not user friendly at all. On top of that it's a small GUI, which make it even harder. The sound of Absynth is still good. I do get a feeling that NI will never do anything to FM8, Absynth or Massive. They put all their efforts into reaktor and kontakt. Some times I even wonder if they still have a software engineer that knows how to improve these old but nice synths.

This is exactly my thought. It would most likely be a lot of rewrite and fresh build. so call it Absynth XT or something, and when you buy the new absynth you get access to the legacy absynth. Seems like the best option.
Something like this would take a lot of time but maybe they are actually working on it behind the scenes?

Quite certainly NI are not working on a new Absynth...
... Brian Clevinger however might. Though it would make much more sense to not call it Absynth at all - it'd be probably a totally new synth. Anyway, what people apparently want, wouldn't be "Absynth" any more, so...

I don't think NI is ever going to make a new standalone synth again... just Reaktor synths...dreamkeeper wrote:Quite certainly NI are not working on a new Absynth...

1) updated filtersegbert101 wrote:HcDoom wrote: All I want personally is an update on the GUI, and if backward compatibility with presets is possible, that would be a huge bonus. However, if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to add.
2) less aliasing
3) more osc options
4) better granular synthesis
5) bigger and better GUI (especially for envelopes)
6) updated effects
Do I ask much hahah?

NI has not yet celebrated the 20 th anniversary.
So the next release will be Komplete 20.
Agreed that Kontakt and Reaktor the cash cows for NI
it still needs more to be able to sell the Komplete package.
My feeling is that there will be an Absynth 6 release in 2018
We have heard in the recent years that Absynth development has continued.
NI will likely not throw away the development costs.
Ok, I woke up on the right side of the bed this morning so I will be an optimist today!

Integrate Absynth into Kontakt?
I was thinking more to integrating Absynth into Reaktor.
If done well either is fine with me.
In any case I believe Kontakt 6 will be more like Falcon. The reason is that the plan was to release Kontakt with Komplete 11 but a rethink about Falcon delayed the release till K12.
