Just checked, still not live for regular customers and no announcement on the promotion that was supposed to happen Jan 28th but didn't because the new system wasn't working when he said it would be. Typical Quintocprompt wrote:It's running in beta mode and it works well. The new shop is much better than the old one and the credit system, if you've already got any plugins, is great (he's giving 30% of existing plugin values as credits which is very generous, 10% going forwards).jbarish wrote:You mean the new loyalty scheme that was supposed to give a 30% discount on Jan 28th only and then never happened??? No, he's not a joke...

Ok, now I think you're being deliberately obtuse. How can you say "still not live" when I clearly saidjbarish wrote:still not live for regular customers
Yeah, I know it's not live, that's because it's in beta mode!cprompt wrote:It's running in beta mode
Quinto actually said:jbarish wrote:no announcement on the promotion that was supposed to happen Jan 28th
Not the 28th - and he did. My account has the credits correctly applied to it. You might have inferred from what Quinto said that it would be live by now, but he didn't actually say that. But I don't think it'll be long because as far as I can tell, it's 99% there.we are doing all the math next Jan 29th
Look, you can argue all you like, whatever! All I know is, the new webshop and user area is in beta, it works perfectly, I have credits on my account and I can use them against new purchases.

So you had to be in the beta to actually get the 30% credits applied to the purchase?? As a regular customer, I tried and saw no credits and no discounts on anything placed in the cart. That sounds like an extremely "obtuse" offer.

Ok, maybe we've got our wires crossed. Right now, you have to be using the beta customer area to see your credits, you won't see them using the current, public customer area (because that knows nothing about credits). However, when Quinto makes the new customer area public you'll see your credits (and can use them).jbarish wrote:So you had to be in the beta to actually get the 30% credits applied to the purchase?? You state all this as if it's very matter of fact when it is anything but. Where is this secret link to get into see and use your credits?? And is the 30% offer over?? I never received an email with any details of this so called promotion. These are the typical kinds of Sknote hoops that no customer should have to jump thru. And you're trying to convince us that Sknote is as straight up as any other company??cprompt wrote:Ok, maybe we've got our wires crossed. I got a very friendly reply today. I'm going to get a refund, and may choose to pick it up later when the Mac version trickles out. So I'm happy with that.

Yes, that would a better response than answering any of my legitimate questions. I am a little surprised though. Seems I had more respect for your opinion than I should have. No matter, it's no longer an issue.cprompt wrote:Blah blah blah blah blah.jbarish wrote:.....

If you already knew about the credit system that was going live on "January 28th" then you would've seen Quinto talking about the beta forum and how to register for it. Why didn't you do that? It wasn't difficult.jbarish wrote:Where is this secret link to get into see and use your credits
I tried answering your questions honestly and to the best of my ability. No matter what I said you ignored me and just kept repeating how bad Quinto is, on and on. I told you the new shop/user area is in beta but you said that it's not available now. I told you that the credit system was working and that, behind the scenes, they have been issued, but you said you hadn't been notified yet. I told you that the new site is practically finished and works great but you said that because it hasn't gone live yet, SKNote isn't a straight-up company.jbarish wrote:Yes, that would a better response than answering any of my legitimate questions.
Your sense of entitlement knows no bounds. I think you're just trolling here to pick a fight. But, like you said, it's no longer an issue.

As a customer I think I'm entitled to know a promotion works. I'm entitled to receive that information in an email and not have to piece it together from various cryptic statements from multiple sources. And if I have to be part of a beta to get an announced 30% offer I'm entitled to say that's not reasonable.

I'm guessing that it hasn't been announced yet because it hasn't gone live yet. For sure I would like to think that when the new site goes live, Quinto will send all his customers an email explaining everything (to be fair, past performance doesn't fill me with hope), but why would he send out emails for something that isn't complete yet? Let's quit with the polemics here - I don't think he's done anything wrong, you disagree, let's just leave it at that and see what transpires.jbarish wrote:As a customer I think I'm entitled to know a promotion works. For anyone reading this later, the new web shop, user area, and credits seem to be working fine for me. I have a bunch of Sknote stuff, so that perk is quite generous in my case, much thanks! Just picked up DolA for $20, can't argue w that.
I've had varying experience with Sknote, but overall quite positive.
The comments about Quinto's, um, "optimistic" delivery timelines are definitely true. Most companies don't announce products until they're actually for sale, or at least have a definite date, which they typically meet, a practice he'd do well to follow. Way premature product announcements and buggy initial releases have created a lot of negative feelings in the community. (Though I do remember buying Echo Boy, even though it required a hardware iLok at the time, which I don't do, because it was on holiday special. I was under the clear impression that v5 w soft iLok was coming imminently, and it didn't arrive for quite a while, so stuff happens, not just to Quinto...)
The Sknote plugins I have are generally workable, but some do have bugs, like all software. They really do have boatloads of character though, and you can get a refund if you really don't get along w something.
Response time for emails has mostly been ok for me, but I did have a license transfer for a second hand purchase take over a month. He's sometimes traveling, among other things, and it's not a giant company with lots of people to take up the slack.
The new web shop and user area should improve that by a lot -- I downloaded DolA immediately after buying it, instead of waiting for emails, and the user area shows the data of last update for each product, so you can download any updates easily. Both are excellent features, though pretty much standard in this day and age.
