Slightly off topic, am i the only one here that thinks Cakewalk would make a good addition to InMusic?

Hmmmm that actually sounds like a good idea. Of course they would have to retain the CW employees who wrote the code and I'm not sure who will retain the rights to the code but inMusic seems like a large enough company to make the acquisition.

VacuumPro is a good synth!!! Don't think that it is discounted because it is mediocre or something. I do not really understand inMusic marketing, but it looks like they are trying to saturate the market with these synths.

If you know subtractive synthesis, you should like it. Nothing special there. It is limited to 6 voices. One unique aspect of the oscillators is that you can turn the knob and select between waveforms. There is an economy mode available if your computer is not up to it, as it can get hungry if you load it up.

I got it included last year with the AIR instrument expansion pack. That comes with a trio of good synths, VacuumPro, Loom, and Hybrid 3. They don't take much disk space, and they all add diversity to my sonic palette. Many of the factory presets are quite good, but you can tweak to taste. The performance features of these AIR synths, via macro knobs, is very handy for playing them.

The AIR instruments were good enough for many Pro Tools users exclusively for years under Avid, before they were released to the VST market. Great sounds and presets, but slightly dated GUIs and patch menus. If they continue development and bring the interface into the future, they should remain quite usable. Get em while they are cheap!

Theoretically there was a time, not sure if the offers the same now, that you could get X2 for a dollar then upgrade to the entire collection for 75$
I have the entire air collection and I spent 76$ to get it (not including hybrid that I got in a midi controller)

Never thought I’d be put off by good prices but it’s so strange that they give away that much stuff for such a low price.

Just buy any AIR synth that is available for $1, then upgrade to the entire bundle for $75. Get the whole lot. Great value! You can download and install what you want from the bundle. I think the only thing I never use is Riser, as it seems to be a one trick pony. Well, actually two tricks, as it also does falls. But it even does that well!

I have been buying M-Audio and Alesis products for two decades. inMusic seems to collect companies to squeeze value from them, and they seem to halt most meaningful support and development, and adhere to their mysterious marketing strategy.

A company like Cakewalk was originally a pioneer in the field, and provided excellent value & support, while independent. I have used their products since before Sonar, Roland, and Gibson.

But after the Roland acquisition, it sort of made sense as they were able to partner on hardware and software. But in hindsight the writing appears to have been written on the wall, if Roland couldn't make a go with Cakewalk and decided to sell them...

If anything, it would probably be better if the Cakewalk code was picked up by some enterprising independent developers, and re-coded for today. Cross-platform maybe?

The iLok requirement is only for the software license manager. No hardware dongle required. Haven't had any issues with that.

Not sure what the demo needs, never tried that.

I got the Air Complete pack too last year. Bought Xpand!2 for $1,- and did the upgrade for $75,-
Definitely a great deal (Plugin Boutique still has it).

Back then Plugin Boutique also had a deal for Sonivox Orchestral Companion-Strings for $1,- and an upgrade to Sonivox Premier Collection for about $60,- if I remember correct. Also a very good deal.

Both companies are owned by InMusic. I can only think that InMusic has deep pockets and that they want to expand their userbase to collect on future releases (up- and crossgrades).

No. Both demo and full version require the iLok license manager software. No dongle required though.

Purchased the mag, got Vacuum Pro up and running and couldn't be happier as it's the only instrument by Air I was really interested it.

I love LOOM . I got the K5 additive keyboard syntheziser since back in the 90th and I am so happy with LOOM now and don´t use the noise K5 any more (poor thing). I also got the HYBRID3 for 1 € and I like it for what nasty experimental stuff you can program with it far away from the ugly 90th sounding thin EDM presets.

But the only Synth I really like to own from Air beside LOOM is VACUUM PRO. and 64 € for the COMPLETE BUNDLE (VACUUM PRO included) is a good price. But I don´t want to have all the other stuff cause I simply don´t need it.

My Question:
Is it possible to only download VACUUM PRO when you buy the bundle or do you have to do a complete download including all the vst-instruments and the sample-stuff and whatnot else? Thank you very much in advance

AFAIR you can download the trial version from the AirMusicTech site and activate it with a purchased serial later on.
I got Vacuum Pro from the pluginboutique for a voucher and 99 cent (actually 23 cent ) a couple days ago and if I were you I'd just wait a couple days or weeks for the next special sale. They've had pretty much everything from Sonivox and Air except for the latest stuff on sale lately.
