I'm actually blown away that Magix is reviving Acid. It's an incredibly crowded DAW market out there, and I honestly wonder where Acid would fall into place among all the current players. One of Acid's selling points back in the day (IMHO) was the unique Acid loop libraries that were sold for it, and I just don't see Magix offering the sort of content that used to be at Sonic Foundry's/Sony's disposal.
I wonder what Acid will bring to the table that makes it even an option as a DAW in this day and age? Or will it be marketed more as just a companion app sort of thing?

don't get to excited. it seems as though the only thing that will be 'new' is that this is now branded by Magix. Considering they have not been owners of this for very long it would be a bit fantastical expecting any kind of changes. On the magix page you can see there is nothing added (that i can see).
i also have a fondness for this app. as i have previously stated but i cannot see anything it that has not been superceded or not present in some shape or form in most contemporary DAWs. Reaper in particular. The midi has always been lacking so there is another reason not to go back to it.
fair enough if Magix do a complete overhaul, that would interest me.
for now though , nothing to get excited about as far as i can see.

I didn't say they'd never offer loop libraries anymore; I postulated that they wouldn't be able to offer the sort of content that made it unique. I mean seriously - does anyone consider Acid loop libraries for their DAW these days??! I can't remember the last time something was released that was memorable.ATS wrote:EnochLight wrote:I'm actually blown away that Magix is reviving Acid. Reaper is still a far superior choice, IMHO - and that says a lot coming from me, since I loathe Reaper.

Sweeeet
I'm happy with Bitwig, can get an idea down pretty quick but don't use half the features of it, I also loved the quickness of Acid & just throwing random loops at it in the early days. Definitely giving Acid Pro 8 a whirl now that it's going 64bit. I used jbridge, but Acid seems to to be temperamental with the bridged vst's & it doesn't even pick up Omnisphere?
Any news on what features they have or will be adding to 8?

Wait I'm confused looking at the website. After this Intro Price They are Boosting the Normal Price to 300$??
Isint that a little...high?
Unless Acid 8 has more features then they have been implying...
