There's a module in the free Guitar Gadgets plugin that emulates a micro cassette recorder with wow and flutter control. Not sure about cheap microphone "sound" but you could probably run it through a small speaker impulse.Detch wrote:Great plug.
I mentioned it on GS, love it on drums, here is how it can treat the snare for example.
I don't care how much the original hardware is respected or not, I never tried it, but I love what I hear in the plugin.
If someone emulate cheap cassete recorder witth cheap old microphone, I'd go for it as well, could be a nice sound design tool.
Well done Fuse Audio Labs

Personally I look forward to their emulation of two paper cups and a piece of string

Installing and activating it on multiple machines is perfectly possible.
Hope this helps!

I highly would appreciate it if the on/off switches of the different sections could be cascaded among several instances. So that you can do a bypass comparison as known from other console emulations. Just activating/deactivating the Preamp/EQ/Tape/Hiss/Power section for a whole project / several instances at once.

I see...this was in fact a feature request during the beta phase iirc. I know other companies have a feature like this for their channel strips, however, the synchronization mechanism isn't something you can get going easily and smoothly in various environments (e.g. keep in mind there are sandboxes or remote processes in which plugin instances are hosted in some DAWs). It's not top priority, but it'll definitely be re-considered for a future update/future products though.

Many thanks for the response. Yes, I've heard that plugin instance intercommunication seems to be not that easy to implement also in terms of different standards VST2, VST3, AU and AAX...
At least in Ableton Live I have the possibility to assign a single key command to different actually several instances / functions at the same time. So it's kind of a workaround to assign the same key command (e.g. "p" for preamp) to every instance of TCS-68 on every track. This gets the job done but isn't very handy of course.

Can this emulate that distinctive auto-gain thing that portable cassette recorders had? Some kind of brutal poor quality thing that made band rehearsal tapes sound huge?

I had a Tascam 244 and can't not see why anyone would want to emulate that thing. We couldn't wait until digital recording became affordable for the masses and now to see someone who wants to go backwards is baffling. Cassette tape has absolutely no magic to it at all.
Whatever, to each his own I guess.![]()
Next, people will be asking for a plugin to emulate 60Hz Ground Hum.....![]()

Hows the CPU and Latency on this plugin?

Hi Pablo, pabloaldunate wrote:Hows the CPU and Latency on this plugin?
It has 32 samples latency (i.e. below 1ms at 44.1kHz). The CPU load of course depends on your system, but it's fairly low (approx. 3% on my 2.6Ghz i7).

Hi, may I ask why the output fader is completely linear?
From the manual:
"Output fader
The output fader adjust the output level. A setting of 0 corresponds to -60 dB while 7 is equal to 0 dB gain. Turn it all the way up to 10 for a gain of +8 dB. The output gain is implemented in a completely linear fashion so it doesn't add any coloration or THD unlike the Trim knob."
Does this mean that the entire audio path isn't modelled?
Thanks

I demoed this yesterday. It definitely adds a 3d ness to a track. Kinda like console emulations. It also treats transients in a pleasant way. I completely wore out a Foster 280 4track. To long ago to make any real comparison. I do really like the look and sound of this.
We jumped the fence because it was a fence not be cause the grass was greener.
