It's far more simple than that, actually
A drum machine would look quite a bit more complex.

It's just a little patch I made while browsing the internet, just coming back to it every now and then to tweak or add some stuff. It can be quite relaxing having something like that in the background
The final patch, which is basically the patch from the picture with a few very minor tweaks, sounds like this:

The patch is entirely self-running and everything is generated in realtime. However, it uses simple probability for most things, which is what makes it so simple.

sound wise, some parts remind me of Intermorphics (Now discontinued) Mixtikl app for iPhone.

A project that I'm struggling with for the last 3 months

What's difficult about ? The writing and production process or the software restrictions and/or hardware you have ? 3 months is a long time to work on any one track...

Nothing's particularly difficult. Music is just a a hobby for me and after full day's work then taking care of family stuff (wife, 3 kids) I usually don't feel like doing music at/after midnight... Also, with this particular track my CPU is at its limits (90%, Surface Pro 4) and I know I need to start bouncing stuff, but I hate it because a) I don't want to comit, b) it's quite complex with lots of parallel tracks, routing, inserts & sends, etc. and I'm not sure how much I want to leave in vs. how much to print to audio. So I'm kinda postponing the process too

Here's my latest 80s soundtrack template that i made for Bitwig. I've tested this out and it runs quite well with no glitches on my late 2017 MBP. With everything running using lots of polyphony, It will use up to 40-50% of my CPU.

Ignore the drum channel with the Organ on it, that was a mistake I made when I made the template and forgot to change it.

I suppose if i took the time I could make drum sounds out of an Organ but I'd honestly rather not.

The only thing I would probably add to this is a Console Emulation for each of the channels.

Ok, here's a few screens from the midi composer I've been developing/jamming on every night. Its at version 12.9 now.
I admit that it is not a DAW since it gets routed to VSTs instead of opening them. I yield!
Great stability however.
