Got around to testing these this weekend on my mobile studio laptop. Wasn't quite sure what to expect from the algo presets, but to my surprise there are actually a ton of very usable sounds in there. I tested a good handful from the various categories, and while the basic Noise category seemed a little same-y, the noise percussion was quite good, the regular categories had some good leads/plucks that sounded both practical and different from a lot of traditional presets (some had an interesting and to me pleasing sort of edge/grit that sounded different from usual distortion), and the modulated categories have a lot of patches that would be good for sound effects or sci-fi kinds of sounds. I'll have to try the preset generator at some point to see how consistent and distinct its results are.faxinadu wrote: Thu Jul 04, 2019 9:11 am Thanks guys,
Just got Mixcraft and MuLab NFRs thanks to the kindness of these companies in supporting developers, must admit that with so many DAWs out there those are two we missed.
We will test on our end with these two as well, and if we find the same issues with the specific DAWs we will send bug reports to the DAW developers as well.
@ztrauq - what is your impression of the algo presets?
I'm still running Defiant on Cakewalk/Sonar primarily as it seems to work the best there, but I have to say that despite its very compact interface, this has some impressive capabilities as a free synth, and a sound that to me at least feels refined and distinct (although I suppose part of that is the presets come up clean, rather than awash in fx like a lot of commercial synth presets - I happen to prefer the clean version because I can get a better idea of the base sound, and then attach my own preferred fx chain).
