The old blocks ism files are still where they used to be, wherever you installed them. Reaktor Blcok is a separate bunch of ensembles, komplete kontrol presets and instruments and installer in Native Access, those all stay the same, they still load in Komplete Kontrol and Maschine the same etc. Blocks Base and Blocks Prime are the two new installers and folders in your NI product folder with the factory blocks in this new rackable format.
thanks for the help. but I have no idea where the old blocks ism files are, because I only have ever used Native Access to install stuff, which gives zero options on where stuff goes... so when you say "wherever you installed them" that doesn't really mean anything to me....
I don't have Reaktor installed but usually NI presets, sounds, libraries, ect (macOS) are in username/Documents/Native Instruments

Try there.

So then if you save the rack as an ensemble in order to edit the modules, for example to fix the adsr bug, and then you save that ism After editing, then when you use that module in a rack the next time, your changes will have remained? If so then wouldn’t that mean rack compatible user modules are totally possible, if by no other way that at least by editing the existing rack compatible modules?

I sure wish the NI gods would see fit to bestow the new block downloads upon me so I could try this stuff out :| So far all I've gotten is the Reaktor update itself. Also if you guys are able to fix the ADSR would somebody be able to post a download, or is that against the EULA?

Ahhh yeah, after playing with the new version for a few mins, I feel that front panel patching is a complete game changer! It probably shouldn't make such a dramatic difference, but I think it brings to blocks something important and fun that was kind of missing before. I love the blocks themselves and their sound, but never played with them as much as I could have. Time to try again! Now I just need to get my head around how racks and the other new things work...

Hmm going to dig in tomorrow eve. On a side note will be hooking into Tidal tomorrow at work and listening to https://listen.tidal.com/album/94311842. Had a quick flick through the first 6 tracks, really nice material. Going to enjoy this and will hook into the back catalogue. Really like it.

Not seeing Blocks Base or Blocks Prime in Native Access .. do I need Komplete 12 for this?

Post

No, I have K12 and don't have it either. Seems they're doing a gradual rollout and we got the short end of the stick.

Downloads through Native Access seem really slow too, so I assume there's some server overload going on right now.
Sweet child in time...

No servers have been really sluggish last few days not sure why normally good

I got bored with it after about 5 mins :D Hopefully well get all the modules back soon.
Anyway, definitely makes things easier, but I am glad you can turn the cables off. I wish I could
do that with my Eurorack hardware as well actually. It's hard to see and work through it all.
Not to mention, patch cables are quite costly imho.

Well, in two-minds about this update; the patch cords are nicely implemented and should keep a lot of people happy (I gather one of the most requested features since the introduction of Blocks) but, not being able to use them with previous/homemade Blocks... just leaves things feeling half-arsed.

I totally understand why they want their 'prime', locked blocks; not much point allowing third parties to sell their blocks if they can be opened and plundered. And they're aware of this as they've thankfully included an export rack to ensemble option so have given us a way to use the new stuff (not that I noticed anything new...) as we did before. But then you have an ensemble with a few cords here and there and everything else in the structure as before. So why use the new functionality then export it? May as well just use the existing method. I guess it's good that we can play in the sandbox and export to an ensemble if we create something worthwhile...

Meh, maybe if Euro Reakt or a similar package is made available then curious punters may be drawn in but can't help feeling this was an attempt to get in on the VCV etc buzz, think they've failed.

You can drop the new rack enabled blocks also in the normal ensemble/structure view , and go into their structure just as before .
You just won't be able to save as an nkrs and no coloured patch cables .
Monark filter and driver are still locked ( core part )
Eyeball exchanging
Soul calibrating ..frequencies

Can you save the block ism after editing in the ensemble structure view? Therefor being able to fix that adsr bug for example?

Yep! Euro Reakt is out sometime in the next four days, once they send over the serials. I'm keeping the User Library version up as well, but I don't have time to keep it up-to-date with the new package. I'll post here when it's out.

Blocks are still open-source if you use them in an Ensemble, but the Rack versions are closed. This seems weird, but it makes sense with the new saving system. A Rack file is only a few kilobytes, compared to the ridiculous size of Ensembles built with Blocks (simple patches take up 80+ MB, which is why I never really expanded the Examples folder in Euro Reakt). The reason the Rack is small is because it references the encoded Block and doesn't resave it in the Ensemble.

The new version of Euro Reakt includes over 100 example Racks. The other cool aspect of Racks is that they are automatically NKS-ready, so every Rack I've put together has pre-mapped macros and descriptive tags. It was a lot of fun to put together... I essentially had to design mini-compositions with interactivity in mind. I've been having particular fun building drum Racks and loading them into Maschine, then adding per-step parameter locks via the macros. It's a nice workflow.
