As a synthesizer, well... the filters are kind of laggy. I'm not into samples of synths, a lot of it is pretty dull to my ear.

I've hung onto an old JV1080, just for the greasy fretless sound. Still my fav.

Trilian that is. I bought one of those Roland rack synths, XV-5050 I think, it was ok, I didn't land on anything very indispensable. I got almost all my money back out of it selling it to Guitar Center, weirdly.

just curious... how are SOUNDS outdated? especially when trillian is multi timbre... NOW!!! if you are using preset than that is understandable... but try layering/experimenting with the patches and see what you come up with... but SOUNDS being outdated SOUNDS crazy... especially bass patches...

Meanwhile ... the op asked for opinions. Yes, I'm afraid opinions are subjective - the two go hand-in-hand. I gave my opinion. You are entitled to your opinion. Yes. But, I'm also entitled to my opinion. That's how it works. As I said earlier in the thread, I've had Trillian since the beginning. I've gone through it auditioning sounds many many many times. I'm not interested in pissing contests, but I assure you I know what's in there. I don't like most of it. Forget the word "outdated" if it bothers you, ok? Today's word is "adult". Look it up, it's catching on.
you sound VERY defensive there... i started my post with "JUST CURIOUS"... and you are talking about being an "ADULT"... i own Trilogy before Trillian... i just dont understand how one knows if the basses in Trillian will not do the job with a song that has not been written yet... in my opinion (since we all have one) we never know what sounds are going to be in OUR next song unless all YOUR songs sound the same... RIGHT?

p.s. i own Komplete Ultimate Collection which has basses too... SOMETIMES those basses fit the build of the song... SOMETIMES Trillian fits the build... but to predetermine if a SOUND fits a song not written is pretty stupid... i.e. closed minded (in my opinion, since WE all have one)...

No argument with any of that. Use what you like, don't use what you don't like. That's how you develop a style. Nothing to argue about.

Those are nice demos. Trilian is cool, I just wouldn't put it in my top 10. Maybe somewhere in the teens.
