Something that would be cool is to be able to reverse the sound right in the plugin to play it backwards..... also a Sampler. Granular and with builtin crazy effects like glitch, Halftime, ...... also some cool Foley , world sounds..... nature Rain ....included with outside the box thinking......looking forward to it....I have everything else except Gladiator .....I hope this one focuses on more Lo Fi beautiful warm sounds..... but its all good whatever ... looking forward to it..... Salute to all the music creators...peace and light

@chk071: Of course I am aware that you are trying to improve the products. Thank you for your feedback.

If peopel are looking for a clone of an existing product the Tone2 synths are not suitable. A couple of other companies do this well and create pretty accurate emulations.
But this is not my philosophy. This is not my art, not my cup of tea, not my passion.
I do my own stuff, I do my own research. I do things differently and I will continue to do things differently. I am an artist and do not apologize or justify for doing things differently than others.
That's the secret why our synths have an own signature-sound and are different than the rest. This is why so many people love or hate our products.

@Markus: Fair enough. :) I actually dig people having their own vision, and doing their own thing. I just say that, in this case, I think a closer look at the competition would be a good thing. But, it's your product, so.

Stereo Spread "just works" for every mix in all the plugins I own that have Unison. No "huge variations in the amplitude".

Anyway I'll give the Warlock demo a fair try when it's released and if I like it I'll buy it ,if not then I'll simply pass that's my philosophy .

Markus Krause wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2020 11:36 am It is true that i wrote last year that I will not develop new synthesizers.
However I did not know that I would get infected by Corona in March and would have to stay at home for weeks. Instead of watching TV and playing games I started to built a fun-synth (mainly for myself)
Great news! But what about the new Vanguard then? I remember a guy from ReFX contacted you about this

Are there zero delay feedback filters?

Yes. There are several analog-modeled types with zero-delay-feedback

Ignoring the SB Vst3 hate :). I too am looking forward to this, if for no other reason that I am glad to say you programming again and will support you.

Of course now I hope down the road you will use photoshop to make guis of all your existing plugins, this interface (or the little of it shown) looks really nice.

Markus Krause wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2020 12:30 pm VST3 offers no real advantages for synthesizers and does not offer proper Midi support. I am really not a fan of this plugin-format. There are still many hosts which do not support it or support only a subset of it.
To still support VST 2.4 for Warlock I had to do lots of tricks and tweaks with the VST 3.7 SDK. I needed months. Steinberg makes this as difficult as possible, for no valid reason.
Even after 10 years Steinberg's VST3 SDK is still full of bugs and technical problems. Porting complex VST 2.4 plugins to VST 3 is a nightmare.
Unlike what Steinberg advertises are GUIs with several sizes also possible with VST 2.4. This is not a VST3 feature. We already added this in the recent updates of our other synths.
MPE is also possible with VST 2.4 and already supported in Icarus2.
Midi 2.0 should also be possible with VST 2.4.

A VST 2.4 version for Mac is possible if there is demand.
32 bit will not longer be supported.
correct me if i am wrong but i think there are 2 real advantages?:
1. vst3 synth can have an audio input
2. vst3 parameter automation is supposed to be sample-accurate and be properly delay compensated by host

PS: i appreciate your own vision on research and development rather than copying competitors' concepts!

Post

I am quite interested in a Mac version.

1 ) A VST 2.4 synth can also have audio-input. This is not a new VST3 feature.

2) VST 3 automation is only sample-accurate if the plugin developer also does implement it correctly. Exteremely accurate timings are also possible with VST 2.4. Accuracy is also always a tradeoff between CPU usage. That's why most professional hard- and software works with sample-blocks like 64 samples, 128 samples, 256 samples or other 2^n based sizes. Computers can process this faster.

Our human ear is also not able to perceive timings-differences below 10ms. This is 441 samples @ 44100 Hz

Delay-compensation is also possible with VST 2.4.

This has to be the best pricing I've seen from Tone2 on an initial launch, that's very welcome. I look forward to checking it out.

Though I'm curious on what the browser will look like..

Looking forward to trying this synth. Does it cover any ground that Icarus does not?
