A tip for making where to place your own presets/soundbanks flexible.
This works for each synthesizer. In my case I have all presets to all synths on a preset folder, having subfolders with each plugin name. This works also for people complaining of a DAW only supporting one VSTPlugins folder, etc.
The trick is very very basic, but not everyone is computer literate and not everyone is aware that this thing exists on Windows, so I share it.
Basically it's just doing the Windows equivalent of symbolic links on Linux, called symbolic links or junctions on windows.
A symbolic link is a link that you place in a given directory but points to another resource. On normal operation the (operative) system doesn't distinguish it from a real resource.
So Dune3 only saves fxp, and AFAIK only allows comfortably cycling through presets if there are placed on soundbanks. A soundbank is just a folder under "<dune 3 factory data path>\Soundbanks".
In my case I have my presets and data on a separate hard drive, so what I'm doing is simply creating a symbolic link under "<dune 3 factory data path>\Soundbanks" that points to where I really have the patches.
In the past I was doing them from an Admin windows terminal, until I found a shell extension that allows to make the links from the Windows file explorer.

I was recently gifted Dune3, one of the best gifts this year.
Just testing the SuperSaw options alone and comparing the results against other Synths I own convince me of how lucky I am.
I think I now have the ear to subjectively compare one Synth from another, be it filters, effects or whatever.
My only reservation is most of the presets are geared more towards EDM.
I am going to make time to learn how to use it, so hopefully I will be able to create my own sounds, using existing presets as a guide.
I am also interested in Wavetables so I might pickup the Mark Holt's Wavetable pack.
Does anybody have an experience with the pack? that could recommend it?

I've tried some of Mark's free Wavetables and they are great. I've never bought the whole package more out of procrastination than anything else.
It's hard not to recommend a package of over 2500 wavetables for £10.
There is a link on his site for 32 free wavetables. They say Dune 2 but they will work just fine in Dune 3.

I posted that I was told to expect an update in December — as that's what Richard told me in an email exchange just over a week ago "for sure it'll be December". Obvs things can change, but that was correct at the time.AnX wrote: Tue Dec 01, 2020 2:41 pmevery update has a beta (unless its a simple bug fix)Ghost Dog wrote: Tue Dec 01, 2020 2:27 pm Early beta?

I've seen it somewhere else too (think Gearslutz, but not 100% sure).db3 wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 11:01 pmI posted that I was told to expect an update in December — as that's what Richard told me in an email exchange just over a week ago "for sure it'll be December". 10 notes for 2500 wavetables does seem a good deal so I will take a chance and hope that they aren't just unusable fillers.Teksonik wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 4:10 pm It's hard not to recommend a package of over 2500 wavetables for £10.

Dune 3 is great, but I still think they should bring back Dune 1 as Dune Classic. the Voice Architecture from Dune 1 to Dune 2 changed completely and it's in a way a totally different synth (Fat Knob, FM1 and FM2 knobs).
