Yay, 'two thumbs up' ....had two 'unicorns' recently as well!wagtunes wrote: Sat Jan 02, 2021 7:41 pm I never heard of Ennio Morricone but damn, was that good. I don't normally listen to 9 minute long tracks but that flew by. I never knew where it was going to go next. Forgive me if I don't critique this in detail (because there is no way I can) but that was awesome. This should be like material for study in a music composition and arrangement class. In a way, reminds me of when I first heard "Rite Of Spring" because I didn't know where that was going either.
Two thumbs up!![]()

Thank you very much for the kind words.
Here's a bit of Morricone (there's a lot more to his work than Spaghetti Western music, but it is what he's most well-known for):

That was brilliant. I've seen my share of Eastwood movies but I had no idea who did the music for those things. Only a few days ago I have watched "Once Upon a Time in the West".
It's the pictures of Sergie Leone in combination with Morricones music that makes it art ... I always get these goose bumps feeling when the pictures and the music slowly culminate into the show down scene. It's slow, so slow for todays fat passed movies, but I really like it, it build suspense ... your parts list remembered me of this musical clock show down scene of one of he other movies ... I actually kind of "stole" th misical clock theme for one OSC myself ... https://soundcloud.com/p-e-t-e-r-h/prev ... you#t=1:50 (listen from here, when the musical clock fades in). Seems I had had a fair share of Morricone before I did this tack
Anyway - Great work. It's a fine crafted tribute and I can tell that there's many elements there! Well done!

Just gave this a listen, been meaning to for quite a while, but never got around to it.
I'm a huge Morricone fan, to my mind, he's one of the great composers of the 20th century. An almost limitless musical imagination, and he bridges the gap between listenable and avant-garde so effortlessly.
Your tribute does him justice, I think you captured the essence of his western scores while avoiding outright plagiarism. Not easy to do!
I especially enjoyed the opening section, the "deadly game of hide and seek" had a wonderful tension (and release!), and the finale definitely had the Morricone grandeur.
Thanks for sharing, enjoyed it a lot. Mind-movie-music, very much so.

I'm seriously amazed at how many people on here and other forums had never heard of him at all..wasn't expecting that!
Cheers - that's 100% the crux of projects like this..always a delicate balance to put it mildly!Your tribute does him justice, I think you captured the essence of his western scores while avoiding outright plagiarism. Not easy to do!

Yeah, I heard the music box in your very industrial track... A lot heavier than your recent VITAL pieces.

I've never been a big fan of Western movies although the soundtracks usually appealed to me. They're also fun to listen to while driving through a snow storm, especially when a drive that would normally take 45 minutes to an hour ends up clocking in at 4 hours. Western music brings that hope, determination and lols to what could have been a dreadful event. Sorry for the random rant there and onto the music...
Your compositions are always top notch. There's nothing quite like music that tells a story. Great job and, as always, looking forward to what you come up with next.
