per Functional, I haven't remarked much on it, just a hint but graphics card is a likely suspect IME.
I wanted to eliminate poor audio drivers, project corruption, and general corruption first, but with these eliminated as probable cause I'd look at that. In fact I'm going to turn off 'automatic graphics switching' here when using Cubase, it's not that NVidia known issue, but it's where my mind is at now. that has been described here a number of times.

I am going to try uninstall graphic card drivers and applications and install only the ones from Windows. I don´t have a clue how I am going to do this but I will try indeed ...jancivil wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 7:38 pm per Functional, I haven't remarked much on it, just a hint but graphics card is a likely suspect IME.

It's fairly simple. Go to "Add or Remove Programs" (or "Apps & Features"). Check for Geforce Experience. Uninstall it. After this, check for NVIDIA HD Audio (or something like that). Uninstall it.mduke123 wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 9:15 pm I am going to try uninstall graphic card drivers and applications and install only the ones from Windows. Restart your computer. If it works, brilliant, problem solved. But if it doesn't, go to same panel and uninstall NVIDIA Graphics Driver. Uninstall it too. After that, download the GPU drivers again. This time, when you install them, make sure that you do not install the Geforce Experience nor HD Audio drivers. Note: checking whenever it works is simple: load more plugins than what would have caused you trouble before. Use 256 or 512 buffer size, do not use 2048. If it's sloggish, it's not fixed.
The HD Audio drivers seem to be some specific thing related to the HDMI output of the Nvidia GPU. I'm not sure if you can get audio output from the GPU HDMI output, but it should not be very relevant in the first place unless your system is some sort of a media center and in that case I reckon you should avoid doing that.
Windows has some serious issues about how it handles multiple audio drivers and stuff like that. GPU problems pale in comparison to audio problems when it comes to diagnosing and fixing them and it likely has to do with Windows hating multiple devices that are capable of handling audio - in particular when those devices have drivers.
EDIT: If you just removed the HD Audio Driver & Geforce Experience, you still have your GPU drivers. You just don't have their shitty bloatware that installs by default for no other reason than NVIDIA being assholes (like many other companies). You can still play videogames normally etc, although I suggest to use dualboot system if you want to have fun and work in the same system - it will otherwise have a tendency to become unstable.

Hi everybody. Nothing. I have uninstalled all my graphic drivers thorugh a program called "Display Driver Uninstaller" in safe mode. Then installed the drivers again but this time "only the drivers". Uninstall also NVIDIA HD Audio. Nothing has changed. Again at 99% with little 27 plugins. It seems to be hitting only to 2 processors of the 16 available.
I made the test again with Reaper and at 48kHz it takes only 4.2% of the resorces at 9% real cpu.
The only thing left is to uninstall and install Cubase and try first clean ...

Weird. If you can't resolve the issue, maybe try getting a refund? Because unless a clean install does it, your only option left is to format the whole damn system. And once that doesn't work, then without a proper diagnosis probably nothing will.

You can also see in the task manager which process is taking more CPU than others. In my case, it was OneDrive, so when I quit it, Cubase worked much better. There must be a reason that affecting Cubase! Try also to disconnect from the internet while running Cubase because it might be the Ethernet or wireless drivers.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Looks like core parking that can happen with Cubase Power Plan. Sure that you didnt activate "Steinbergs audio priority " in Cubase settings?mduke123 wrote: Sat Jun 05, 2021 12:03 pm Hi everybody. Funny thing i also have a similar project. I tried the exact same project in both daws. Now Cubase was around 90% and Reaper 10%(!). IMHO the Cubase System needs a complete overhaul in Asio and rendering and export settings of course. Not professional enough for such an expensive Daw.

Hi all. Nothing. I have cleaned my Cubase settings and also renamed the 10.5 (before, now I am in 11) settings so when I open Cubase it re-scan all the plugins and re-create fresh settings (it even takes spanish as default language). It has improved just a liiiiitle liiitle so now I can add three plugins more before it crases and start dropping audio pops.
Of course it is not in compatibility mode and I activated Steinberg Audio Power Scheme and also try with it deactivated. Audio Priority is set to Boost
At this time I think I migh have been covered 100% of the things I could do.
Refound would be nice. However if some day I buy a Mac I would like to give it a try.

it's weird to see people saying 'trouble with windows' installations like the above, when historically it's been a very windows-centric thing with unique problems on Mac OS. Mainly performance being uniquely poor. but there was a sea change I think at 8.5, still kinda slow but not as bad. Not that slow at all now, but I have a not-cheap audio interface now, with new technology taking strain off of CPU into a DMA thing with tight integration.

No no. I am in 11. I still had the profile of the 10 in the harddisk.jancivil wrote: Sat Jun 05, 2021 1:07 pm Oh, it's 10.5 then. 10.5 I had no issues with, it worked as well as anything ever worked. Ignore my rants on 11![]()

So you have preferences for 10.5 and 11. this probably does nothing or very little but I don't keep 10.5 preferences because when I trash preferences Cubase won't rebuild, it will just take the older ones, and somehow it's too complicated for Cubase to keep straight now. Produces conflicts. you can remove those and if you don't want to rebuild those from nothing reinsert them as needed.

Yes. It seems that Steinberg reccomends w10 64 but you see ... not allways works unfortunately.jancivil wrote: Sat Jun 05, 2021 1:07 pm it's weird to see people saying 'trouble with windows' installations like the above, when historically it's been a very windows-centric thing with unique problems on Mac OS.
