It's not really a micro looper. It's a full looper up to 4 bars. It can be locked to tempo.Funky40 wrote: Thu Apr 03, 2025 1:56 am$59, on sale right now.zerocrossing wrote: Sun Mar 16, 2025 5:00 am I've had great results using Other Desert Cities, Portal and Fragments. I'll try out Halo Effect, but I've been pretty satisfied so far.
more input on this anybody ? it´s 10$ too much for an impulse buy, haha
the (micro-) looper is not clear to me. How long does it loop ?

The cool thing about Halo effect is that you can change the order of the granulator, looper and reverb on the fly. So you can build up a really complex loop by just shifting around the various effects/processors.
You can use midi files to repitch the granular section or just use the transpose mode.
When you're done you can darg and drop from the main window straight to your daw to save the last 4 bars of whatevers been looping in the buffer.
It's a very cool effect.
I think Soundbetter are a great company. Definitely on the pricey side but the algos they use in both Halo Effect and Butterfly effect are top notch. The plugins are really solid too with very good UIs.

hmm, no luck. Halo is not running good on my Mac with Sequoia 15.3, hosted in Gigperforer.Funky40 wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 3:18 pm coinsidence, i just installed the demo ( not played with it so far ) (Halo)
It´s in fact the first time ever that i see a plugin knocking out GP, while things still work. Usually problematic, -ungood programmed- plugins would crash GP.
Halo makes it behave slow. Halo itself has also glitches while operating it. Especially with midi CCs.
It´s -to me- not looking like it was programmed very good.
also: it has a nice visual feedback whne dialing in parameters with the mouse.
But that´s nolonger the case while dialing in the same parameters based on midi CC controls.
another indication for a unsufficinet job, for my personal taste.
otherwise i had bought it after 3 minutes of testing.I like what i hear.
I give it more test time tonight or at the weekend.
i´ve tested it within a *very* complex patch.
And then also on a very simple one. (13% CPU load on just one core / since GP runs allways just SC based) Same behave. clearly Halo the problem.

Ok, it´s the GUI (on m system, in my context) . I have no problems if i close the GUI. I DO have if it´s open.Funky40 wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 4:08 pm hmm, no luck. Halo is not running good on my Mac with Sequoia 15.3, hosted in Gigperforer.
Ridgewalk was better, but i had some problems with it too when the GUI was open.
(macOS 15.3, loaded within GP)
/ deinstalled.
Halo sucked slightly down my whole system. Not seen such behave bevore on any of my apple silicon macs from the last years

Halo Effect, I can’t understand if I like it or not. I can’t understand if this is something I already own or if it can add something particular. Any opinion about it?

Halo Effect is cool, but it's more of a fancy delay than a useful or comprehensive looper I think. Better conrtol than slice, but not by vast amount. It lacks enough basic looper functionality to
really be viewed as such imo. Still it's very cool, much like their reverb is as well...
*As an alternative, if you happen to own both slice and glow from lese, you can get pretty
close to HE with the addition of your fav reverb, even better if you own a couple more
from lese, Eigen, Recurse etc... Great Developer, though I do often wish for some more
comprehensive control sets...

It's easy to get it sounding nice. Unfortunately, it keeps crashing on me.

I purchased HE after some hesitation. I can confirm it’s a good FX, but nothing mind-blowing. I think I could have achieved similar results using fragments from Arturia.

Which? Slice or HE, both work fine for me on windoze. Slice is still new maybe some bugs yet.Uncle E wrote: Mon Apr 07, 2025 4:06 am It's easy to get it sounding nice. Unfortunately, it keeps crashing on me.

I think it was HE but I could be wrong. Now it's not happening.

Ahh, mostly it's pretty good for me, though it can get squirrely when the buffer starts getting very large. I like it though, and own it actually...Uncle E wrote: Mon Apr 07, 2025 6:37 pm I think it was HE but I could be wrong. Now it's not happening.
