RS have posted that VST3 should be out before Xmas.
They are already working on the next update which includes HD for the sequencer/transport bar etc

Getting the Rack HD was a major undertaking, quite time consuming i images. Now it’s done I would expect to see other aspects of the DAW being developed quite rapidly.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Thanks…I don't have Reason Companion though, as I'm not a Reason+ user. I bought the upgrade.

Update: Figured it out. I had to go to My Products on the website and "Sync All" to get Authorizer to update all my rack extensions. A handful of first-party devices (the "optional content" instruments) also had to be deleted and re-downloaded through the Manage Content window in Reason.

I have decided to wait until they deliver something that's really relevant to me - there's nothing in V12 that I really want or need.

- high res? I do not have a issues with the current GUI/resolution

- Sampler? Do people still use samplers? I never really did.

- Combinator? What's that for? Wasting time instead of actually making music and being productive?

- browser? The one thing that really irks me about the browser is that shitty jumping-back issue - did they fix that? I'd gladly pay a tenner for that.

Thanks, Props, but no thanks.

Was that negative enough to cause a thread-lock? :hihi:

Fair points on the other stuff (though I personally am very happy about the high res upgrade), but if you've never played with Combinator (even the original version), you should. Load up two devices with patches you like and combine them into one device, and you have a brand new sound…and that's only the beginning.

I did the same with Live- skipped about 4 years (went from 9-11), not every update will be for you, which is good as it gets expensive if you have a lot of DAWS! See you in about 2 years when 13 is out.

FYI If you do the Reason+ 7 day demo for free you can download all of the soundpacks (several hundred) for free and use them after you stop the free trial.....

I did - believe me I did - but why would I, playing around aside?

There's basically two possible scenarios:

1) I combine the devices to something special, unusual, unique: then it is actually specialized, bespoke to the currect song and production at hand and I won't want to use it ever again in another song, So I don't need the Combinator. I just do it from scratch and that's it - done! Happens all the time to me. I never see the point in saving that for easy recall at some later point. I much rather create something else bespoke for another song.

2) I combine the devices to something a lot more generic - and in that case I could simply use one of the hundreds of plugins I already have instead. That's simpler, easier and quicker. And again I don't need the Combinator.

For no good reason, I tried to get Reason Rack Extension running inside Reason and it works! I loaded up an instance of Maschine 2, and loaded Reason Rack Extension inside that.

By the way, using Maschine 2 as a plugin is also a way to use Roland Cloud plugins in Reason on a Mac, because Maschine 2 supports AU plugins. It actually works pretty well. In my case I had to disable multicore audio in Reason (and hyperthreading as well, but I always leave that off).

Interesting- so you can scale the DAW at 100% (where it looks best!) and the rack at 160%

Is it possible to buy only the Reason Rack Plugin?

Can you scale them separately then or is this just in Maschine?

RRP and the DAW are one in the same - you can’t have one without the other. You don’t have to run the DAW to run RRP in your DAW of choice, though.
