Sum of everything: So a bunch of whiners not being able to do a commercial or amateur track with NI synths.

Respectable.

If you can't make music with NI synths then nothing will help you.

Go on flame me, ask me about my tracks, my commercial success, my wisdom, my poo and all that. And by the end of a day it still is a fact.

If you can't make track with their portfolio you are a big loser and a whiner. Very simple. Face it.

Yawn.

@leVzi - Cool, though weird that the vst2 *is* in the expected folder but it still reports it as missing.

Whatever, I've just reinstalled them so will now just use the vst3s, slowly moving to that format anyway.

That is so freaking far from an 'FM8 replacement' though. I get that it's a DX7 and so was FM7, originally.... but FM8 does so much more than a strict DX7 emulation does. It would be impossible to replicate 90% of FM8's patches with this synth.
Ok, good point. I'm was using fm8 just as an dx7 emulator so I did not miss anything.

NI competes fine as far as sonic DSP. It is all the infrastructure around the DSP that badly out of date.

It is not a positive sign for NI that their flagship synth Massive X is so incomplete. It doesn't have a usable browser, no midi learn, or direct parameter automation, doesn't respond to PolyAT, isn't Apple Silicon native and so on. It's been 2 1/2 years since it was released and there has been very little development even though it was released with the marketing blurb that it was designed to evolve.

I quite like Prism and Form... but I have not and will not be installing NI stuff on my new M1 computer. I've moved on and am fine using other tools. Maybe in a couple years I will look at NI again and if they have become current I would happily start using their stuff again.

I pretty much agree. I've moved on completely to other synths that have better infrastructure and UIs etc. I just set up a new computer and did install everything from Komplete though, and while I probably won't use the Komplete synths much at all (With the exception of Super 8 which is great), I will continue to use Kontakt and many of the effects. Actually the effects are where I'm seeing the most promise. Better interfaces, VST3. So updates are happening there, hopefully that will spill over to the other products. I'd love to see Kontakt's next UI update be similar to the look and feel of Guitar Rig 6.

HALion would come close, I think.
Then you'd think wrong, simple as that.
Lookup the third-party multi-sample library support for HALion and compare it to the third-party multi-sample library support for Kontakt. It's not even close. Composers rely on Kontakt libraries for their arrangements. HALion can't even begin to replace what's out there for Kontakt.

i will never sell reaktor even if i don t use it as much as it deserve it..massive X is also a phenomenal technical archivement imo and nothing can replace it , i have komplete but the rest i don t care.

and yes the main problem with Ni the worflow is often lot of hassle when using their plugs so lot of the time i use something else, even if it can sound worst at least i have fun with nice Ui and programing experience
