Back in the day, lots and lots of OT banter was always a major ingredient of what made KVR what it is... but it was mostly humours, intelligent and often insightful banter. Now it's like "wait a minute, I think I have something resembling a thought... no, nothing - I was mistaken..... ah, what the heck, I'll start a thread anyway, I'll just post the next bollocks I don't think of... In the OT forum anything goes in my book.

But for some reason especially the host forum has become the place to dump any sort of stupid nonsense...

Post

Due to the influx of Bitwig users.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

You’re not wrong though. The DAW sub-forum has gotten worse.

I wouldn’t mind seeing it get back to more on topic posts.

I do think it’s just a small handful of posters though and one of them no longer posts here.

No amount of irony could make this thread and your OP any more relevant or funny. It's basically just more of the same old tiring nothing about nothing...
Opinions vary. But I'm happy that you're so certain about everything.

Synth hopping is even worse...
Never had the DAW or synth hopping issue. Generally, with DAWs I just like having different perspectives, but I've been dropping them as I go along, without replacing them. I've just "aged" out of my experimental phase. DAWs are like programming languages. Even though I worked in primarily one, I've always sort of played around with others because they actually inform you by virtue of making you view different things from alternative perspectives. The only issue with DAWs, is that they often cost more :-P Compile prices have been in the bargain bin for decades...

I've always been fairly immune to peer pressure, though, and that's where most of this stems from :-P

If I said you are blocked, I won't see your posts. Please kindly refrain from quoting or replying to me.
"Notifications for Nothing" are annoying. Blocking me in return is a good way to avoid this.

‘Collecting’ plug-ins

This website exists to promote the music software industry .

If we all grew up and stuck with 1 DAW a couple of synths and 3 or 4 third party FX , the sellers on this website would not be happy.

Humans get bored easily - some buy clothes , some eat fried chicken , some take drugs or drink….. some buy another plug-in .

It’s all addictive behavior

I felt at home with Bitwig for the longest time. It has the strangest bug on MacOS that the developers acknowledge but refuse to fix for the f*ck I know reason. It bugs me that much that I also refuse to use it and sold my license.
I actually hate Logic. Can't wait for Cubase to change their copy protection so I can demo it without a dongle.
If all else fails, I'll use Renoise for everything... although not optimal.

Been saying this before. This point of view is not welcome here ;) No such thing as addiction on KVR!

jonljacobi wrote: Mon Feb 14, 2022 8:23 pm I'm worried. I haven't been tempted or even interested in checking out another DAW in a while. Maybe I've just stopped expecting mine to behave like my former DAWs and simply appreciate it for what it is? Could I actually be satisfied? I'd ask for help, but I think I'm actually happy like this. Never mind.
I have no interest in other DAW's. Bitwig works for me and it is a pleasure to use and I feel creative using it. Plus it keeps getting cool new stuff. Plus I have Logic as backup to do a few tasks that Bitwig cannot.

Same for me with plugins at this point. And hardware synths for that matter. I'm set and focused on music, not gear.

It’s not always that simple… there’s lots of legitimate reasons for DAW hopping especially earlier on compared to now.

I used to need ProTools for work. When that became less necessary I worked in Reaper (audio for video) and added Logic (same reasons) but still kept working mostly in Reaper.

My primary DAW of choice throughout it all was Ableton Live. If I still did the same work as before I’d need to work in Logic or Reaper, or look at Studio One because they’ve added some of my favorite time saving features from ProTools.

I definitely like working in Ableton Live and they’ve added so many features over the years that its easier to only use Live.

Good to know. I just got started on music production. Tried FL Studio first, but it's a usability mess.

After trying several DAWs, settled on Bitwig because it's well-designed. So I'm hoping I won't feel the urge to "hop" from here.

If my 64-bit DAW can natively bridge old 32-bit plugins, I'm pretty happy. Reading back through Aly & Fila's history, I'm reminded of how different making music was before streamlined DAWs and the endless tutorials at the click of a button. Honestly, if an old Amiga can make somebody tap their foot... we should have no excuse with the ease of today's software. Even the most clunky modern DAW has way more support, features, tutorials, etc.

Why you envy other daws? why not to just use other daw?

Post

basically daw hopping is a manifestation of hope, that the next daw is proving the existence of your creativity.
not even synth hopping/hoarding is THAT hopeless. :D at least if you get some decent 8bar loops out of them as the bare minimum.
but hey, each one their hobby as long as its peaceful and none gets harmed

err, well it is the DAW subforum...

... but it would have been nice if the OP had said what DAW they were using and why it was good.

Now we can only shoot him down for his informationless post.

Personally I'm fine between Cubase and Bitwig these days. I do different projects in each. Cubase I have used for years and very comfortable with it for mixing. Bitwig is just very enjoyable and creative to use.
