Anybody did watched the livestream from yesterday ?
Was it only little talk, or did they release some fresh news about what interest us most as reason users : M1 update ?

I jumped in a couple of time. They just listened to tracks and waffled about them.
I didn't hear anything about updates in the 20 or so minutes that I did watch.
My other host is Bruce Forsyth

Ok, thanks for the info.
Someone somewhere (and if I remember good, in this thread) said they will release the M1 update around Christmas, but I guess it's another disapointing expectation...

Sounds good? Looks like they're getting pretty revenue from subscriptions to pull that off?

That's great. I like Reason, I really like using Reason as a Rack in other DAWs, but AU only really works in Logic as a MIDI out plug in, and it's kinda lame compared to how it works in DAWs I use more like Digital Performer, Live etc.

At the current version (Logic and Reason and MacOS), it runs pretty fine as an AU instrument and also as FX in Logic on my machine... (M1 Macbook Pro)

So from everything I tried in Logic, you can run Reason Rack as a MIDI out source, but that prevents it from being an instrument. For any of the drum machines in Reason that means getting a single MIDI hit out to say an AU of Battery or whatever in Logic, well that's all that instance can do. In VSTi land with Reason you can run ReDrum and send a single hit outside Reason to Battery no problem, the rest of the sequenced drums in ReDrum for instance plays etc. It seems to be a limitation of Logic that AU was designed around, since it also works this way in Unify which also has MIDI inline as a plug in, in the track, instead of as an instrument input source in any MIDI or instrument track which is the way it works with VSTi's.

I just loaded Reason as a MIDI plugin with Chord Sequencer, then another instrument instance on the same channel (Synapse Antidote) and just for fun another instance as FX with an RV7000 and it works just fine...?
Three times Reason Rack doing different things and I have no trouble in Logic

As much as I'm looking forward to Reason being native, this version runs pretty flawless even on Rosetta

Midi possibilities are not the same in Live : to my knowledge you can’t do all that (midi out + instrument + FX) in the same track...

You can't use Reason as a MIDI FX plugin in Live, since Live doesn't support MIDI plugins at all.... (unfortunately)... they prefer to peddle their sucky Max stuff

But instrument and FX together work fine

You can use midi plugins in Live, but not in the same track where you’ve got vsti and/or fx plugins.
It’s a pretty dumb limitation in Live...

How? I have Scaler2 and it doesn't even show up anywhere in Live

Again, with Reason Rack as a VSTi I can load Redrum, make a sequence, take one slot say the kick, send it out of Reason Rack and trigger any VSTi in Digital Performer. This works the same in any host that can host VSTi’s, Live, Bitwig etc.

To do the same thing with the AUi version of Reason Rack you would have to duplicate the setup in another rack, not the same at all, setting up Redrum as a MIDI out source means it’s only a MIDI out source.
