Note that they don't bother telling us what has changed over all those versions and that's because nothing has changed, certainly not since WinXP. They just up the version number for every new OS. Don't believe me? Here's a screenshot of the CD I was ripping while I compiled this post -

no one would troll XP users if XP users stopped complaining about modern software and hardware not working on their ancient OS. you brought it on yourself. your XP and your Cubase SX1 "works"? well then keep using them, what's the issue? ooooh, you mean old stuff works, but new stuff doesn't? well, new stuff works with new OS. take your pick, and stop whining.

in the other thread that i think led to this one, the OP asked if there is a legacy version of VShimmer that would run on XP. (there is a 32bit legacy version that valhalla provides, so the answer is most likely, yes). that was all.

this entire thread has been 90% projection. i suspect the OP has gone now. good job, boys. let's have another thread about the warmness of analogue, or subscriptions or why Reason doesn't look like Tron or have light cycles.

I can totally understand your position and realize that simplicity can assist in making music. The simpler a machine, the less effort it requires to carry out an action.

It comes down to socialism, something that will never be made simple; regardless of the version.

@Bones: As a programmer in modern software, I feel confident saying the source code might undergo a constant stream of minute changes without the user noticing it. Little changes under the hood, keep up with updates done elsewhere. Even if it is really small like updating the dependency with a codec library, it's still an update. But you won't notice it.

^ well, yeah. A lot of these terms are kind of redundant, but I guess it's the same all industries. At work in ICT, it's all bumping or rebooting servers rather than just restarting them. Guess it makes us feel cooler.
