Flangers and phasers

I recently purchased the Nomad Integral Studio Pack when it was on sale @Thomann for peanuts and amongst other stuff it has two great phasers (Liquid Phaser & Blue Tubes Phaser) and a combined chorus/flanger plugin (Liquid Mod) - all really good stuff - very musical (with rather a sweet range than a sweet spot), GUIs that are both pretty and highly functional and very low CPU useage - especially the Liquid Phaser really impressed me. (The phasers are actually what made me buy the bundel as I have very fond memories of a free Nomad Phaser back in the day that was my goto phaser for quite some time for most the same reasons).
And since the Liquid Phaser on its own can be had for almost no money at all (regardless of the bundles being usually even much better deals) it's imo basically a complete no-brainer to say that at the very least if VFM is part of the criteria, this is currently one of if not THE best phaser plugin on the market.

It's a very nice sounding phaser. Worth the slight inconveniences on Mac to get it to run.SMH wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2026 8:50 pmA Q Mike just asked me to let the Mac folks know there is a new update cuz the files were still old in the previous. Eh, no.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Stunning Phaser doesn’t appear to support modern formats or operating systems. No VST3, no Apple Silicon. Mike/AQ is really kind of stuck in the past with a huge chip on his shoulder and other issues that prevent him from moving forward.
Also said to tell you " before running a host to enter sudo xattr -cr /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/components/StunningPhaser.component into terminal, then enter their admin password to bypass Apple security" will make it work on new Macs.

First time I heard there's a 1.0 release now - does any of you guys know what (if any) are the changes since 0.52? (No GUI-improvements unfortunately)aMUSEd wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2026 11:00 pm It's a very nice sounding phaser. Worth the slight inconveniences on Mac to get it to run.
Edit: ah, I don't think there were any presets before, right?

Not a phaser per se but you can do wonderful phaser sounds with PSPs Wobbler.
The free Full Bucket phaser is very good as well.

Nope - to quote myself from the first page of this thread

Mike went off the rails long ago and never got back on. Stunning Phaser has been in beta for 5 years, going on indefinitely.
The biggest change he wanted to make for V1 was reworking the GUI, but since everyone can see the current one in plain sight on the product-page and it is fully functional, that certainly is no argument per se againt the plugin either. You get what you see.
In other words: he decided to call it beta - for many other companies this however would be a full V1, perhaps even a V2 or V3, given how hard he worked on the beta and how much he added. It's actually quite similar to The Scream. I'm not quite sure what makes some people care so much about something as subjective and perhaps even arbitary as version naming.
Stability? Dunno - neither remember experiencing myself nor seeing others reporting any bugs since at least v 0.4.
The same doesn't go for every other plugin that's not been "beta" for a while though. One man's Alpha is another's V2.
Stunning Phaser is one of the best sounding and full featured Phaser plugins in it's current form and it is dead-cheap.

This is only true for VST.admiralquality.com wrote: 3. Run Your DAW in Rosetta Mode
Because these plugins were built for Intel processors, your Mac needs to use its “Rosetta 2” translator to run them inside your DAW.
Apple’s built-in AUHostingCompatibilityService is able to host Intel AU plugins inside native Apple Silicon DAWs that support Audio Units. At least for now.
Apple will be discontinuing Rosetta2 in a couple years. (Probably long before Admiral Quality gets its Apple Silicon act together.)

Yeah, these are good. I like these.jamcat wrote: Wed May 18, 2022 3:04 am Arturia has a really nice Mu-Tron Bi-Phase model, and a Bel BF-20 flanger. I have both of these as well as the Plugin-Alliance ADA Flanger, which is also excellent.
If I'm using a flanger or phaser, I want it to be an authentic emulation of a specific piece of classic gear.
Another choice for me what be Waves Kaleidoscope because you can chain two together in various configurations. Series, Parallel, you can put different effects on each side, you can drive it. It has like a variable color control which I think acts like different device emulations.
It's quite flexible. Thats usually when I op[t to use it, when I know I'm going to need something more complicated than a straight up flanger, phaser, chorus, or tremolo.

Intel AU will also run in native Apple Silicon DAWs (without opening the DAW in Rosetta2) thanks to AUHostingCompatibilityService.
Intel AU runs in both scenarios. (Natively or in Rosetta2.) “Run Your DAW in Rosetta Mode” is only necessary for Intel VST plugins. You still can run Intel AU plugins in Intel DAWs under Rosetta2, if you want. You just don’t have to run the Intel version of the DAW to use Intel AU plugins. It’s an unnecessary limitation.
Not sure where the conflict is with my information.

I didn't know that, thanks! Does this happen automagically, or are there settings and checkboxes to be aware of?jamcat wrote: Fri May 01, 2026 3:20 pm

Does it also apply to AU instruments?
