Toggle Primary Device Window is unassigned by default.
Probably one of the first commands I assigned when getting Bitwig then. Nevertheless I recommend it! :hihi:

My needs are simple for instruments: Omni-Serum-Hive-Vital for my usual initial canvas.
I need to start setting up shortcuts in BWS and defaults.

Maybe getting more serious and involved in BW 'music making' and not just experimenting...

Life's short!
Yes, setting up defaults for devices is super useful! As well as Macros, you can add modulators common to that device. And if you want those modulators inactive by default to save cpu, that is saved in the default state too. Mod assignments are also saved as well as any nested devices and so on.

Also, setting defaults for the browsers is handy too. And of course you can create template projects! Plus there are a lot of useful key commands that are not assigned by default.

nevermind... :D

For me it's equally about other things like hybrid tracks and bouncing in place, the multi-out chains of a VST device (not needing extra tracks), and the remote control mappings and macros. It's so strange going to live and having to create a single device rack to get macros, whereas they are available right there on every device with bitwig, with device templates and preset templates.
One of the small but big things about Bitwig compared to Live... I use the Clip Launcher and Arrange in every project. That they are both visible and oriented the same makes constantly going back and forth fluid. It is easy to drag in a few scenes from Arrange and re-arrange them, have some tracks in Arrange and others using the Clip Launcher, etc.

And yeah, BIP and Hybrid tracks is such a great workflow.

I moved originally for in clip editing...it's still the thing I miss the most if I am using Live, it just seems 'wrong' to have to swich to arrange view to make a simple edit to a clip...
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Just open a second window, which you can anchor or leave it floating.
Not the same but Floating is great

I'm confused I think? Why would you have to go to the Arrangement View in Live to edit a Clip? The subwindow is the same here? Or are you talking about track vs clip automation?

I actually use a 3rd party sample editor which Live opens…but not needing to do that or have a floating/pop up window is preferable…we have a split screen already…I can see the waveform…why not be able to edit it where it already is displayed?

I am talking about the sample in the clip, say it’s a drum loop and I want to cut it and then reverse one drum…I can do that in the clip editor in Bitwig all on the same screen.

OK I get it, reverse only works in the arrangement, same with multiple samples in a clip, not possible in Live etc.

Yeah, if you want to do that in Live, you need to drag the clip into Arrange, chop it into pieces, make the change you want, and then consolidate it back to a single clip and drag it back to Session.

Yeah, there's no real quick way to do this. I sometimes wonder why you can't just open an external editor directly via right-click instead of having to first "manage sample".
