Anything worth taking a look besides the usual suspects such as Unfiltered Audio or Dmitry Sches?

Arguably you can put "arguably" in front of anything and not have to defend it.

Arguably, you could replace "PA" with "stock" for just about any modern DAW.

.. and as Softube plugin.

Mostly good plugins with pretty annoying marketing to be honest. This sale, that sale and a sale between those sales, followed by a mega sale. But you only "need" a few of their plugins. No one needs 7 compressors, 4 analog eq's and 5 channel strips. Even if the new one is the greatest analog warmth no-brainer with convincing youtube video.

Their amp sims are pretty good. I noticed UAD have pretty much identical, as far as I can see, amp sims. What is the difference, apart for never going on sale, from the PA amp sims?

ANd I would add a pretty loose update support.

Does PA have a monolithic installer or can I just install the one plugin I want to install? I picked up SpecOps on some deal last year but I've yet to install it out of fear that I'd have to uninstall a bunch of items that don't interest me. I recall vaguely that this seemed to how their install process works. Am I mistaken?

Click 'Your Account'
On the Account page scroll down to the 'Licenses & Plugins' section
Click 'Manage Your Licenses'
Click the + sign next to SpecOps to expand it's section
In the expanded section for SpecOps should be a Downloads section with standalone installers for it.

You can install just the plug ins you own
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

Ok cool. Thanks for the responses. At least that is not a concern.

The only difference is the UAD versions run on UAD hardware. Which is pretty moot now.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

I would say one of the most appealing part of using PA plugins is the installer. You don't need iLok, it doesn't want to install everything you don't own, it's a fast and painless experience. You just have to remember never buy anything at full price because within a month or two you will be able to get the plugin for the 'real' price.

A benefit of using an iLok key is that the license isn't tied to the computer so if the computer dies, you don't have to deal with getting activations reset by the dev for those that are tied to the now dead computer hardware. This is also a benefit of PA's DRM scheme because from what I understand they allow user administered authorizations as long as it's not our of control (to their discretion). So same benefir as iLok key without the key.

This! + Annoying tendency to repackage the same Code in slightly different form factors. That said, some of their plugins are really very good. Love the Amp Sims. Amek channel strip get a lot of use here. Very nice saturation plugs. Their Mega Bundle rent to own scheme is pretty attractive at the end of the day, I think. But you will get 500 marketing and discount mails per week ...
Qw, music from twelve weeks in quarantine is now streaming on spotify and bandcamp. This is a collaboration with the the smallest of worlds VR art project, that documents our living spaces in times of isolation. You can join their project here.
