We are on the same page. Space is a big limiting factor for adding new gear to a studio and mixes don't need to have layers of 8+ polyphony all over them. I get so much mileage out of my Volca Keys , Volca Fm , xD and Microfreak. All of these are very limited in terms of polyphony and that doesn't bother me at all. I get a kick out of the snobbish "these are toys" comments. Bring it on. $99.00 and it will be used well.
Stefken wrote: Mon Jul 31, 2023 2:38 pmI think it sounds good, doesn t require much space and 4 voices isn t too shabby for 100 bucks.
( I m quite into modular these days and 4 voices is quite the luxury in modular).
But this is a boutique line of sorts.
E.g. the Roland JU-06A also had only 4 voices but at 4 times the price.
But if you don t like that sort of things, then don t buy it.
Buy a full-key synth instead. Easy peasy.
Chances are these mini synths will get full versions at a later date. (Jupiter 8, CS-80, OB-Xa, ...) )

If space is a limiting factor, why not buy a better software version? Of course, there is no rationality to this, it's all about GAS and buying toys, and consuming.
BTW, currently on sale for 49 Euros. (or 99 Euros for new customers)

We don t have to go high ground here.
Other brands have released boutiques.
If you like them, buy them. And else don t.
I don t see how a consumer product that is configured to musical practices, cannot be a musical instrument. The demo sounded pretty musical to me.
Hell, people even make music on pans and pots, industrial tubes etc. No need for snobbery imo.

i guess allowing the poor to have fun and make music, does run the risk of a re-emergence of some sort of punk or acid house

By all means do what you feel is best for you. Just don't expect sympathy if you're mismanaging your resources or throw that back at those who are managing better as somehow being privileged. That's just an excuse for not managing your resources well and playing the victim.
And don't believe a corporation is etching out a place in the market for you out of the goodness of their sympathetic hearts. Don't be that deluded.
It's probably a fun little synth to toy around with though. Have fun.

Space is a consideration for those of us who like hardware. Every medium has its considerations. Could be CPU power for some, space for others, budget perhaps?... you get the idea. even if you pretend not to. Stick your nose up in the air. The rest of us will just get on with it. Life is too short for your particular flavour of condescension.

not sure what you are talking about here if im honest.VitaminD wrote: Tue Aug 01, 2023 6:05 pm By all means do what you feel is best for you. my resources are fine thank you very much
care to explain how im a victim? i actually do very well, i can afford things many cant and i am grateful this is the case, but it also doesnt stop me seeing that those in less than great circumstances, could indeed benefit, from buying a cheap shitty toy synth.
for themselves for example, a release from the stress of day to day life, just noodling on a synth, great for wellbeing (as are many other things admittedly)
or for their kids for xmas, if little timmy is begging for a synth, which do you think said parents are able to afford? or do you think their kids need to learn life is shit from an early age and no one cares?
or, as i mentioned on the previous page, i will happily grab a few, for a local group, that work with kids who come from homes with little chance of getting these things at home, but it gives them a few hours, twice a week, where they can forget the fact they dont get fed properly, or they sleep 3 to a bed, and better still (as ive seen with my own eyes, with my foster brother, as they take in kids with autism too) grow in confidence, to the point my shy little foster brother, now goes out to do an actual job, dealing with customers. something we never imagined he would be able to do, as he could barely hold a conversation with anyone outside the family.
so please, tell me again, why there is an issue, with poor folk having fun?
where did anyone suggest they were? And don't believe a corporation is etching out a place in the market for you out of the goodness of their sympathetic hearts. Don't be that deluded.
you seem to be reading things that no one has written.
not sure you even know what that meansIt's probably a fun little synth to toy around with though. Have fun.
