it wouldn't be too difficult to build a few voices in vcv, using the sequencers available, will give you more of the feel than the piano roll imo as you can trigger them live, to get the freeform feel.
I only use softsynths
a software modular i meant :)

You could try VCV Rack, which should easily get you there.

VCV is a software modular system

Another YT demonstrator of Berlin School in a daw is Synth Seeker. I like his playlist :

I'm sure it's very good, but I have no idea what's going on and get confused with all the patches, besides I can't get Reaper to see it on the system.

So what's your takeaway from this thread and the others you created?

that he should have tried dusseldorf?

Well, always nice to see a happy ending. ;) Apart from that, I have a feeling that the OP is too set on the tools, workflow, or whatever which he thinks is necessary to produce this musical genre (hence his mellotron emulation thread). Just begin, try something out and experiment, instead of focusing on which tool you supposedly need.

I think the Tangerine Dream example was great: From really simple analog mono synths to software at a later stage. Shows that you don't need anything specific, apart from a bit of talent, and motivation. Workflow will ermege itself.

Tangerine Dream didn't need forums either.

i do get what you are saying, but on the other hand, wed (kvr, not you and me specifically) be arguing about the best filter/mac vs pc.... it's a nice change to have a thread we just chat about something we enjoy.
and hopefully, he or others may find something of use :)

Sure, but, I'd like him to advance a bit. I've seen so many threads by him now, and he simply seems stuck, which is a bit painful to see.

Not that I'm not stuck for years now... :D

for me this week has been house issues getting in the way
leaking toilet (now fixed) and no electric in the studio room :o not fixed :x

What point are you trying to make?

I wonder where this is going to. If it is going anywhere. Are you changing your workflow? Are you going to do other purchases? Do you want to buy any controllers, or hardware instruments? Just wondering, because, it seems to me like this going nowhere. Just my impression, maybe I'm wrong.

I saw that you created another thread in the meantime, asking about a mellotron emulation, which was suggested in this thread: viewtopic.php?p=8750840

I think you might be reading something into my intentions that's not there. If you want to believe I'm 'stuck', whatever that means, then I invite you to check the link in my sig and judge for yourself. :D
