it seems like a violation
if john lennon didn't want to release it then it shouldn't be released?
what if you have songs that you think is crap
and suddenly it's released without your consent?
i mean if john lennon was still alive and someone did that...
wouldn't he be angry?

Edit: Sorry -- I missed the part where he called you childish names. Those can and do actually hurt.
But maybe instead of chasing someone off only for them to come back under a different username with the same approach, maybe we should allow that there might be more behind that in the hidden part of their iceberg, acknowledge that and welcome them, but maintain that this is how we do things in this club.

As far as I understand it John Lennon sent the tape to McCartney and was expecting some kind of collaboration.
Seems to be some knickers getting in a twist here.
Oh! And it’s a nice ditty replete with Beatles nostalgia… I actually had a little teary moment when watching the little documentary. It’s hard for some young uns to understand just how important they were and how their eclectic genius as composers of not only fabulous melodies but also arrangements and lyrics stamped something indelible in our consciousness.

I think the important point of your post is “if John Lennon was still alive.” He’s not. I don’t know what they did to him after he died, but either he’s a skeleton in a box or ash. His former wife Yoko now owns his estate, so it’s 100% up to her, and she seemed OK with it, and I’m sure John doesn’t mind, because he is dead. Maybe you believe that there’s some sort of afterlife where you can look at what’s going on in reality, but that’s a fantasy for people who are terrified of death.harryupbabble wrote: Sat Nov 04, 2023 2:49 pm it seems like a violation

Don’t get me wrong, I was seriously affected by his death. I lowered our high school’s flag to half mast, got suspended for it, then took a train with my best friend and hung out at a vigil in front of his apartment in the Dakota. Ended up catching the flu and for reasons, I dropped out of high school and never went back. This doesn’t bother me at all because it doesn’t bother John Lennon at all, because he has ceased to exist as a thinking.
Anyway, I listened to the song once and it stuck in my head the whole day. John’s superpower. Do I like the production? I haven’t liked John’s production since he left the Beatles, but the songs are often so strong they make up for that odd over-reverb sound he adopted. Is this my favorite Lennon song? No way. Not even in the top ten, but they can’t all be I Am The Walrus.

AFAIK, John didn't send any of his songs/tapes to Paul after the Beatles break. Yoko sent/gave Paul a casette of Johns songs in the beginning of the 90's, incl. Free As A Bird, Real Love and Now And Then.kelvyn wrote: Sat Nov 04, 2023 3:18 pm As far as I understand it John Lennon sent the tape to McCartney and was expecting some kind of collaboration.

(Of which the last one is the worst of all 3, in my opinion).

Yeah this one doesn't do much for me. Loved Free as a bird and Real Love. But hey, nobody writes 100% amazing tunes, not even Lennon. Especially in demos you never meant to fully produce.

Anyhow, as you already know. I didn't have much of a name with 3 question marks (? ? ?) hence why I switched. Now everyone can call me Papa Shango.
Ok no more creepy questions. Move along.

A.I. has the ability to because it doesn't get interference from self critique/judgement. All it needs is a start button pushed by a human finger and away it goes.
Actually this could be a whole topic on it's own. Humans get bored. A.I. doesn"t which can accomplish a lot consistently.
Speaking of humans getting bored. I didn't change my name because I got banned.donkey tugger wrote:I think that may have already transpired
I switched to a new name and the older account got banned afterwards because we are allowed only one account.
Anyhow my robot post wasn't meant to be serious at all but I tend to forget how super sensitive musicians are where even a silly name like "twat" is an absolute no-no.
I could go to a sports bar and call someone a twat for picking an opposing team and they end up buying me a beer. Go figure.

we like to consider the female musicians here.
not that i haven't done similar in the past here, or irl with friends. but ive learned over time, to try to avoid making anyone, feel unwelcome here.

Yeah let's not kid ourselves here.So and so didn't get all sensitive about a silly name call because "they considered female musicians here"
I've seen the word "stupid" being used here many times by many members so if you want to go down the road of making people feel welcome here you can start by not using that word because many have been called "stupid" by peers and feel insecure when it comes up.
Sounds overboard well so is gerring upaet over twat. I've seen it used by girls before so yeah, bottom line, most musicians are egotistical, sensitive and lousy at math.
