Strictly speaking, granular has a pretty distinct meaning beyond simply manipulating the audio buffer- audio split into grains of arbitrary length and played back- but I get where you're coming from. You could theoretically use the loop function as a sort of grain generator. Either way, it's just a great plugin but with a just a bit too many pages/tabs and stuff. But given the complexity inherent to this sort of thing, Infiltrator does it as well you could hope. Compared to something like Tantra which is also super powerful but is ass to program.whassup wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 12:07 pmYeah, I saw that coming.![]()
What is granular? As I understand granular it is about buffers that are manipulated.
Delay, Tape stop, Stretch, Reverse, Loop, Pitch, etc. is what you can do in Infiltrator.
For me it is a question of the interface how to deal with these "granular" (pun intended) building blocks.
And yes, the FFT/spectral stuff is so cool!![]()
What's you favourite real time Granular effect?

Gotcha, totally cool.
I am not so interested in technicalities behind these things but I want to get cool sounds. Delays, tape stop, pitch, stutter, FFT, etc. are all there to mangle things up to create great new expressive sounds.
Yes it is not exactly my favourite interface but giving in to the concept and making cool things with it isn't too hard. Looks good, sounds great.
Infiltrator is my weapon of choice right now for these things.

Well, the new Motion Fractal from Excite audio is another very cool granular plugin to add to the list imho.

Fractals is fantastic.
Even besides the motion system the combination of dual granular trance gate, reverb and repeats is brilliant.
What makes it great is that you can reorder each component. So you can go from the repater into the reverb and then into the granular and then to the gate or any other order.
Very well though out feature set. I like it a lot.

It is very cool. It has crashed on me several times though while automating parameters in Bitwig.
