Whats the simplest layout VST synth with biggest palette of sounds for beginners?

I think in a discussion about beginners it's a relevant factor, though. Look up any conversation on here about any synth (including this thread), and you'll see people disagreeing about whether or not a synth's UI is intuitive. And you also see loads of people saying they bought some instrument but stopped using it once they found something that suited them better, often lamenting all the money they've spent on software before figuring out what kind of workflow they like.

So starting with something free helps you learn what you like and dislike before throwing down a bunch of money on something you may regret purchasing in the future.

if the goal is the end result and you’re not terribly concerned with the beginner learning much about synthesis, then synplant 2 without a doubt. it’s easy, intuitive, capable, and the dna thing can’t hurt. if an education is desired, maybe go with the bleass synths, specifically alpha… or maybe one of the noise engineering synths, even the free ones are pretty deep while being simple to use.

Synth1 sounds just great, free & I got probably 25,000 presets I'm sure there's more out there, easy to source tips-tutorials that have emerged through the years, very resource friendly compared to other suggestions...

+1 For E-Phonic Invader 2 --> Definitely VA modeling but covers alot of ground with included effects. Sounds soooo good.

Helm. And it's free and cross-platform…

The problem with Helm, is that it has some fatal UI scaling problems, which render it completely unusable on many devices at several scaling factors.

I used to really like it on my older SD display and device. But its UI is all over the place since I moved to a newer UHD setup and Helm can no longer be used.

It's a shame, but Matt Tytel's plugins (Helm, Vital) have often had some of the worst/glitchiest support for UI scaling, I've ever come across. (Initially upon launch, Vital was just as bad for UI scaling as Helm, but Vital received some subsequent fixes thereafter. Unfortunately, I believe Helm never did (as it's still at v.0.9.0?)

Funny, nobody mentioned Odin-2 yet. It's a basic VA. so its layout is easy to understand, and with its wide selection of components it is definitely having a huge sound pallet.

I use Tone2 Saurus or Sylenth1 if I want a simple type of layout.

One of the simpler layouts is ACE.

The user can stick to the default connections and ignore the option to use cables. Then the user can start to add just a few cables and the sonic palette expands dramatically.
