It's pretty easy to route the MIDI from one Instrument track into another in Logic Pro since version 11 came out (check up the Internal MIDI In option in the Region Inspector)buffalo roam wrote: Tue Aug 19, 2025 1:38 amAnd hear...what? At least in Logic, you can't double load synths in the same channel, and Serum 2 won't go in the midi fx slot. If you can route the midi out from one channel to another that has a different synth, well then you may have something. But what a PITA. The real need is for a sequencer/arp that does what Serum 2 can do, apart from Serum 2.
STEPIC - is there any other Sequencers which might give you something more? Riffer?

+1 for HY-Plugins sequencers. They're awesome. Also want to mention that you can use Playbeat by Audiomodern as a sequencer. You don't need to use its internal sounds. The smart randomization features of Playbeat are >>> Riffer.

Thank you! You're right. I admit I'm being lazy. I'll dig into this. But still, instead of paying for the full price of Serum 2 (which I haven't done yet), wouldn't it be nice to have its clip (sequencer)/Arp combo available as a separate (maybe less expensive) plugin?oobesan wrote: Sat Aug 23, 2025 7:01 pmIt's pretty easy to route the MIDI from one Instrument track into another in Logic Pro since version 11 came out (check up the Internal MIDI In option in the Region Inspector)buffalo roam wrote: Tue Aug 19, 2025 1:38 amAnd hear...what? If you're on Mac the Mac App Store has the StepPolyArp AUv3 v5.0.3 which is a real-time polyphonic amd polyrhythmic MIDI step arpeggiator and step sequencer. Here's a link to it https://apps.apple.com/us/app/steppolyarp/id1361313588 It has all the features you could ever possibly want in a sequencer/arp.

Thanks, this looks interesting! Limited to 32 steps (but what seq/arp isn't other than in Serum 2?), but a very inexpensive option!StartMenu wrote: Sun Aug 24, 2025 9:33 pm If you're on Mac the Mac App Store has the StepPolyArp AUv3 v5.0.3 which is a real-time polyphonic amd polyrhythmic MIDI step arpeggiator and step sequencer. Only works with Logic, AFAIK.

You can chain the sequences. It has lots of steps. It’s an AUv3 MIDI fx plugin that works on Mac and iPad & supports MacOS Ableton Live, Apple Logic etc. It’s brilliant I just discovered it yesterday. HY-Plugins HY-MPS3 & StepPolyArp have the best features.buffalo roam wrote: Sun Aug 24, 2025 10:11 pmThanks, this looks interesting! Oh there’s 1 more mega feature alternative MacOS/iPad AUv3 sequencer. MIDIStep for cheap also because it’s native to iPad. Link https://apps.apple.com/us/app/midistep/id6680182647

I found something called NovoNotes SideRack that seems like a dream. Basically, it's supposed to use your iPhone or iPad as a plugin, including MIDI FX. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get it to work with Studio One or Luna, although I'd still recommend giving it a try because it has an MPE MIDI controller built-in that DOES work:

“ Ableton Live 12 can generally host AUv3 MIDI FX, thanks to the AUv3 support introduced in Ableton Live 11.2 and carried over to Live 12, although some users report issues with specific plugins or overall performance. While AUv3 support is present, you may encounter problems with certain plugins not displaying correctly, or you might find that some have limited functionality, such as missing MIDI output, so thorough testing is recommended. How to Add AUv3 Plugins
1. Install the AUv3 Plugin: Download the AUv3 plugin onto your Mac. [5, 6, 7]
2. Set Live's Audio Preferences: You may need to adjust your system or Ableton's audio preferences to ensure the plugin can be found. [5]
3. Load in Ableton: In Ableton Live, navigate to your browser, find the AUv3 plugin, and drag it onto a MIDI track or to an instrument chain. [6, 8, 9, 10, 11]
Potential Issues
• Plugin Recognition: Some AUv3 MIDI effects might not appear in Ableton's plugin list or may not load correctly. [1, 6, 12]
• UI Flicker: You may notice minor flickering in the user interface of some AUv3 plugins when running them in Ableton Live. [13]
• Limited Functionality: As noted by some users, a significant downside is that some AUv3 plugins do not have proper MIDI output, which restricts their use as MIDI effects. [4]
Workarounds for Issues
• Check System Settings: Ensure your App Store settings are configured to show both Mac and iOS apps if you're downloading them directly. [6]
• Look for Verified Apps: Check forums like the Loopy Pro Forum to see lists of AUv3 apps that are known to work well with Ableton. [4, 8]
• Contact Developers: If you have problems, reach out to the plugin developer for updates or support. [8, 13]

Oh, I missed that before. Like a polyphonic Seqund... different lines playing against each other is pretty cool.
(Of course, one could do that with multiple Seqund instances on multiple channels, though it's a bit more work... hmm.)
