Yes, seems like they've refactored components from Pigments into a new UI. Smart!Lbdunequest wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 12:32 pm Ive just compared Pigments super unison algorithm in VA osc - its the same as supersaw in jup 8000.

I sold my Roland JP-8080 a few years back and haven't really missed it much. I've just given this a quick try and to me the feedback oscillator doesn't sound right and neither does the 12db filter, dissapointing. I think I'd rather use the 80x0 oscillators in Diva.

As someone who uses both PC and Mac, that's just not an option. I won't buy a commercial plugin that's not cross platform outside of cheapie iOS synths, which I never end up using anyway.

I'm sitting here Starsky Carr-ing my JP-8080 and the 8000V, comparing the saw and supersaw waveforms in various filtery configurations, and I've confused one for the other more than I thought I would. It's harder to get the V into the sweet spots - especially for that squelchy resonant classic JP supersaw sound, but I got there and it was 99% there. Had to fiddle too much with velocity and the env to match my hardware's behavior, but it eventually nailed it. Went into this feeling disappointed based on all the demos I've seen because in those demos (like, every single one of them) it doesn't sound like the JP at all. After spending a considerable amount of time A/B-ing though, I am surprisingly satisfied at the emulation. And it sounds truly JP when you layer two instances - now that's the sound I was looking for. Glad that pan knob is there. Glad the clicky envelopes are there. What a relief.
But, why did they not keep the noise waveform on OSC 2?? The noise on OSC 2 lets you supplement the supersaw osc with a little more fizz. There's even a space for it - they need to add this immediately.

Just not for me. I want to know that if I ever fully abandon PC for music, that I won't lose anything. With these new ARM Mac's, getting a Mac Mini Studio or something is enticing. The only thing I'd miss is using my Nvidia GPU for ToneX captures.Korg Supporter wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 6:47 pmI have both PC and Mac, and I mainly make music on my gaming PC. I am not crazily into the JP-8000 in general. The hardware was cool, but a bit flimsy feeling. It had a very nice workflow (all parameters with dedicated controls) in the same way a nord lead (1 and 2) did and was therefore nice to work with.
All that being said, if I want a "super saw" almost every synth released in my entire career, has a decent way of making a "massively stacked detuned saws" sound with the oscillator section. Many of these sound far better than the original JP-8000 to me and have far more options. Aside from being among the first synths to do "unison" at the oscillator level, I don't really see the point.
I'd prefer Pigments or zebra or diva or many others for my work. Especially with the CPU being relatively high. I honestly like synth 1 more for a simple crusty VA that does massive detuned saws.
I'm sure I'll end up getting it when they next give me a giant discount.

Not really, considering Arturia's is already pretty low on CPU and a high amount of users are on Mac. I say that's not a win since he isn't making a Mac version. That means that Arturia and potentially Roland will be getting 100% of the market share. It's also pretty weird that you're writing almost the same thing on Gearspace as here. Did Adam higher you for PR?EvilDragon wrote: Thu Apr 24, 2025 8:00 pmSure I suppose we don't know which CPU Adam has, but also when you take things into perspective that they did NOT match the hardware and there's missing functionality... It does sting a bit.djanthonyw wrote: Thu Apr 24, 2025 7:55 pmCPU does not seem bad here on my M2 Max. I'm not sure I would listen to anyone who has a competitor product that they're trying to sell.
It also likely means Adam's emulation will be lower CPU AND more accurate, which really is a win-win frankly. Unless you're a Mac user, heh.

Nobody hired me for anything.
Win/Mac usage in audio realm is roughly 50-50 worldwide, so there is no chance that only Arturia and Roland would have 100% of the share. The math doesn't add up

I'm playing with this emulator really a lot, and that tells something. I simply must play it. If your not trying to match hardware, you can make great patches from default very quickly.
Took me less than a minute to make my favorite superstring sound. FX are also great.
I guess I am JP-8000 guy! I just wanted a version which doesn't take space and doesn't need repairs! This is it

As far as I'm concerned, even if no one ever makes virtual synth plugin again - I don't care, I've got everything I needfrag wrote: Sat Apr 26, 2025 6:37 amFor those of us who are not deaf, this is the truth...hurricaneaudiolab wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 6:11 pm I'm sitting here Starsky Carr-ing my JP-8080 and the 8000V, comparing the saw and supersaw waveforms in various filtery configurations, and I've confused one for the other more than I thought I would. I’m referring to the Mac market share. Arturia will be getting 100% of it since they currently have the only Mac JP8K emulation, and potentially Roland if they release an emulation. Adam will never get any of that market so it’s not really a win-win.EvilDragon wrote: Sat Apr 26, 2025 5:33 am Nobody hired me for anything.
