This was disappointing. The UX is downright broken and the sound is really brittle. If people want west coast synthesis they should check out Aalto. Super fun to use and sounds incredible.

Aalto really is great. It sticks quite closely to the template of the Buchla Easel, without trying to emulate its sound. It's deceptively simple and feels very expressive to play. I haven't been able to get into the other Madrona synths quite so deeply but they really nailed that one.

I would if they had got it right but not even a LPG? What were they thinking. Pigments can do a lot more and does have a proper LPGAh_Dziz wrote: Wed Oct 29, 2025 8:03 am Gforce does very nice DSP. I'm more likely to check this out than any of the jillion remakes of analog synths they've released over the past few years.

Not a fan of its sound character. Some interesting presets but too much work to make something that appeals to me. Relies very heavily on its effects. Not a fan of the UI/UX either. Tiny text, menus you have to click through instead of a selectable menu. I won't be buying it but it's good to see developers trying new things.

GF just send this email:
"Okay, cards on the table: our promo video clearly didn’t highlight the sound or capabilities of MAP well (or even at all!) … Luckily, Vulture Culture has it covered, so now you can actually hear MAP in action."

Lots of really good sounds in there, and with GForce, there's always a lot more to it than it first appears.db3 wrote: Wed Oct 29, 2025 6:25 pm GF just send this email:

I usually have to dig into their manuals to get to all the nooks and crannies.

This makes sense for the Oberheim series. Even most real Oberheim's were just repackaged SEM's. Halogen FM throws a bit of a wrench in this theory, though.enCiphered wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 8:23 pm I think there’s a difference in development philosophy and depth.
GForce and Cherry Audio can release synths faster because they’re reusing a lot of internal frameworks. Engine, UI system, preset handling, etc. Once that’s in place, a “new” synth often means re-skinning, changing oscillator/filter behavior, and adding a few new twists.

I still think cherry’s are completely modular, built from their vm system or whatever. You can tell since their standalone synths used to be made in Java. Tho, I haven’t tried any since the first, maybe they have changed. Anyway sry OT.

If you want an LPG in MAP you can get a fairly good approximation by starting with taking the settings of the amp adsr and duplicating them onto Envelope 2. ADSR1 should have a fast enough attack, medium decay and little sustain and some release. Assign ADSR2 to filter 2 in Low pass mode and extend the release a little.
Modulate ADSR2's depth with ADSR1.
For the vactrol character of an LPG take the output of the noise LFO at a slow rate and high slew limiting and modulate the attack and release of ADSR2 slightly. Make sure that the noise LFO is set to key trigger.
Optionally you can use filter 1 with another envelope to add a slight snap and feed filter 1 into filter 2 and also put the gain before the filter for more non linearity.

I wouldn't click on that video simply because of his stupid beard and pose.db3 wrote: Wed Oct 29, 2025 6:25 pm GF just send this email:

If I shared my opinions on that video I’d probably get a visit from the Karma Police, who’d make me listen to music made on modular synths with my eyelids pulled back, and then tickle me to death lol
I lost my heart in Cap de Creus
