Since the first astonishing signal two years ago, we've had the the radio telescopes at Jodrell Bank trained on the Dog Star system with nothing but static and arse cramps to show for it. However, this month we finally received a second transmission from Sirius. The message was painstakingly decoded and converted directly to MIDI, with each distinct phrase assigned to a different Flechtwerk instance. This is the result.

SiL3NC3_SWX - Number Station
https://soundcloud.com/soulwerx/sil3nc3 ... er-station

This month’s track unfolds in three fragments:

A recurring sequence of numbers opens the space – 0, 1, 2…
The divine (0) incarnates into the individual (1) and connects through the other (2). A seemingly simple sequence that can be read as a fundamental principle – origin, experience, relationship.

This is followed by a message – fragmented, encoded, like a transmission emerging from static. A reference to the enigmatic numbers stations, whose broadcasts are meant only for those who know how to interpret them.

The final section follows the process of electronic sound creation as we know it today – a continuous shaping and condensation, evolving from an abstract idea through structure and modulation into its final expression: the waveform.

Numbers stations are mysterious shortwave broadcasts that transmit seemingly random sequences of numbers, believed to be encrypted messages intended for unknown listeners.

Hello, I am very new at all of this.

I started this without having much of an overall idea of what I wanted to do, to just playing with the options and seeing what inspiration struck. Some of the percussion reminded me of whacking bits of metal around in a tin shed, which was fun.

I'd like to say that its intentionally a very lean production because I like the spirit of DIY and unpolished demos, but its mostly inexperience :P

Feedback, critique or advice is welcome - hit me with your wisdom sticks.

Hey everyone, I’m new here and this is my first time participating in this challenge. I think the idea is great! I’m using this to improve my sound design skills, and I’m glad the first synth was so easy to use. I really had a blast working on the project with Flechtwerk. I didn’t quite get to finish it, but I’m out of time for now.

This is a pretty simple jam with a sort of constant forward propulsion. During the production, I was thinking of how this might be performed live by simply tweaking faders and knobs.

In usage Flechtwerk feels a bit like a load of presets with macro knobs. The track started life as a load of clips in Bitwig which I then tried to jam into something listenable with the APC64. I hated it. Much tweaking later and we have this: another track totally unrelated to its title. The cover image might have some relevance in a tangential sort of way if you look closely...

https://soundcloud.com/violator-alba-99 ... al_sharing

Anyhoo, the track was created with Bitwig 6 and 17 instances of Flechtwerk. The following plugins also made an appearance:

- the usual clip to zero combo of dpMeter5, Blue Cat Gain 3 and KClip3
- SSL autoEQ
- SSL autoDYN
- SSL autoBUS
- kHs Delay
- Polarity-MD
- Klevgrand Pana
- Bitwig Tool, Instrument Layer & Drum Machine
- Tilr Sirial
- UVI SparkVerb
- mastered with bx_masterdesk Pro
- metering with LEVELS and Tonal Balance Control

Bass and percussion MIDI thoughtfully constructed while everything else came from random fiddling with Chord Generator and jamming away with the Exquis. Melody, such as it is, courtesy of Riffer.

This is such a weird synth. I nearly gave up half a dozen times this month, but I'm glad I kept pushing through. I'm looking forward to hearing what everyone else came up with :)

Hi all,
hope you are all doing well.

It's a cool tune, but did you mean to write 'Flechtwerk' here?
