The revival of this thread made me notice that my two main requests and annoyances that I pointed out (post from february, above sachas new post) have not yet been adressed. I find this sad..

Doesn't help. I simply don't want to deal with 2 sequencers, especially since I allready know one of them inside out.jens wrote: you surely know that the sequencer syncs to the host?
And that's no criticism at all. I'm sure EXTs sequencer is nice - it's just that I don't feel a need to use it.
I'm using EXT as a modular VST(i) enhancement of Logic (and partially SX). Fine with me.

? don't see it as a sequencer, see it as a pattern player (like what you wan't to do with the sampler) set it to loop just your wavfile and/or use exts realtime handeling with midinotes. it's exactly the same as a sampler. but if you wan't to miss some great possibilities, it's your choice

I AM using it exactly as that...
Apart from that, my only question was about how to exchange slices (preferably along with realtime preview). Right now, none of the existing beat slicers allows for such a thing.

Yes, exactly.jorgen wrote: you want to change the sample the slice is refering to?
And, if possible, this should happen along with some realtime preview functionality - a la DR-008 or Battery, where you could keep your sequencer running and would listen to the samples changing as soon as you select them in the "open" dialog.
That'd just rock my world.

I use EXT SA. I'm selling Ableton Live 4 when a buyer comes forward.

that is kind of stupid imho. replacing just slices of a loop would lead to a soundmess. every loop sounds different and has a different volume and also they have different points where the (for example) snare hit tkaes place.... can't think off many examples where this would sound good.
