Since i bought a J-Station off e-bay i stopped using plugins. Man, that thing is great. I must say that Cortex (used to be Guitifier) is a fine plugin, be it a bit cpu-intensive.
Buy Darling Sister's new album "Rise and fall" now! Just send a pm or an email. Visit our myspace page on www.myspace.com/darlingsister for songsamples.

Cortex is imo rather similar to J-Station -that's what I love about it...MelodyMan wrote:Since i bought a J-Station off e-bay i stopped using plugins. Man, that thing is great. I must say that Cortex (used to be Guitifier) is a fine plugin, be it a bit cpu-intensive.
(I'm using a J-Station for more than three years now)

I'm just waiting for this:
Behringer GDI21
A J-Station would be lovely, but I'm getting sick of checking e-Bay for them-- the "Buy it Now" ones seem to be commonly $30-40 over going market price, and I hate getting outbid.

Jens... I like the Godin... I have been thinking about picking one up but I haven't been able to justify buying "yet another guitar" to my wife.
I've been doing a bit of playing with Cortex and IMHO I don't find it difficult at all to get a good usable sound. In some ways I find getting the right sound much easier than twiddling with guitar suite stuff. I do find that it eats a heck of lot of cpu though.
I've been trying out a number of the commercial demos, and of the bunch that is out there I am quite impressed with Izotope's trash, although it is least intuitive of the bunch. There is a great deal of flexibity with Trash but you're not working with an interface that a guitarist is familiar with. It will be interesting to see what Amplitube 2 will do.
While I would agree that using (and recording) actuals amps will provide the best sounds I can't afford to purchase all the variations out there. This is only a hobby for me, and these amp sims get close enough to the sound I am looking for...
Just my 2 cents...
