well, maybe it's just me, but i upgraded to platinum from pro5 (i think) and then the 5.8 update. that's what i paid for. any work done after that, in my opinion (and this is just me) is good gravy, unless it fixes a bug that bothers me, in which case i kinda have it coming. right now, i'm very happy with the program as it stands. when version 6 comes out, it'll be a free update (which would be great, but i'm already happy with what i paid for) or it will be a paid upgrade, which i will purchase because it will be worth it and probably be enhanced in some way that makes it worth the price ie new instruments or whatever. truthfully, tho, i don't need a paid upgrade every year (can you spell sony?)
i'd rather have a mullet than a comb-over.
fortunately, i have neither.

Only thing I care about is seeing more stability when midi editing(crashing when doing tasks while transpot is running) & getting a fix for the native Orion plugs remembering their settings on loading a saved project file..

It remembers the settings, just not the preset name, which is still very annoying.Sickle wrote: getting a fix for the native Orion plugs remembering their settings on loading a saved project file..

I'd say Almost done.Is Rich going to fix the "Recording Audio without the Record button being activated" issue in ver 6?BONES wrote:Already done.

Its completely an utterly done in the way that Teksonik has been after. The R button on the Playlist arms the track, so you can monitor without recording, and pressing the record button on the main toolbar lets you record.

Yes, but if you hit the main toolbar record to record eg. Midi data from you midi keyboard (or the synth you're monitoring).. it also records the audio. Without the monitoring you cannot hear what you're playing. So I'd say almostTeksonik wrote:Ah excellent, that's the way it should be.BONES wrote:Its completely an utterly done in the way that Teksonik has been after. Personally, I don't give a hoot about v6. It's 7.3 that I'm looking forward to.
5.8 is doing a grand job for me, part from a few minor glitches which I can more than live with the only things I want in 6.0 are things that only I've been requesting...and probably aren't going happen because of that!!

Doesn't your soundcard have monitoring? The only reason I see for monitoring within ORION is to use effects in the mixer strip. Beyond that, who cares?Mark Vera wrote:Without the monitoring you cannot hear what you're playing. So I'd say almostBut as it's still beta no point arguing about it.

isn't that reason enough?BONES wrote:Doesn't your soundcard have monitoring? The only reason I see for monitoring within ORION is to use effects in the mixer strip. Exactly! I can monitor the input of my Audiophile 24/96 if I change settings in the ASIO mixer panel-away from the setting that works with all my other audio apps. But I cannot monitor the signal as it goes thru Orion's mixer strip so I can't use all these wonderful vst effects I have at my disposal-Without recording each time play (not record/play) is pressed. If you played guitar you'd know that you have to "play" the effects in real time as you play your guitar to get the right results. If I can't hear what the delay is doing I can't sync my playing to the delay time etc, etc.BONES wrote:Doesn't your soundcard have monitoring? Anyway the problem is solved if recording only happens when the RECORD button is activated. Seems simple enough.

Apart from many small improvements, OP6 will differ from everything else in two major areas:
1. New OS
Orion Platinum 6 is going to have its own operating system! This architecture allows IO latencies as low as 1ms, since no other threads or processes can disturb Orion. It'll be 100% file-compatible to Windows, and it autodetects ASIO and WDM drivers.
2. Fully customizable and programmable
Orion Platinum 6 is command-driven and fully customizable. It uses a familiar intuitive language to manage your projects, compose and arrange. That is necessary anyways, since initially there's little or no GUI, since that's too complex in a custom OS. Check the screenshot below to get an impression of how it looks in practice:

Well, exactly. Effects and software mixing. Pretty much only reason for software monitoring to exists. Better integration between hardware and software. And that's during composing sessions too. Or do you claim when you make songs with software you apply all effects (including sound levels and eqs) only after you're finished with your song?BONES wrote:Doesn't your soundcard have monitoring?
