Good idea, thanks for the tips.a couple of other things: you should position the text so that the distanse from the top is the same as the distanse to the right margin. you name could also do with a twist. add some mystery by making it "nyb rainier" or "nab rainier". also align that text to the same right-side position as the title. this is basic layout and will make the text subconsciously more pleasing
My CD Art_which one?

Maybe it is the color of the font that stands out, I will try a few alternatives. Thanks VitaminD for your input.the font stands out too much for my tastes.. looks tacky imo.. needs to blend more with the design (again imo)

Anyway, can you provide a link to the original space pic?

OK I guess my new name is Rob Reiner, hope he doesn't mind. I have thought about calling myself Prince Rainier, but that was taken until the recent death of the prince from Monaco. I think that one is up for grabs now that I think of it.
The link where I got the image from is from this archive:

Don't ask me which one I don't know where it is in the list. But I have the image here:

Actually, if you just remove the C, you get the very pleasant sounding "Soniforia". I rather like it. Liked it enough to do a couple of spacey covers to give you some more inspiration:Soniccat wrote:cptgone wroteI think I can agree here it sounds good but it can get overused. I am considering a title change. My inclination is towards Sonaform. But nothing is set in stone.BTW, I hope you don't get to hate your project name, Sonicforia. I know I've come to hate mine, Sonic Love.
Everyone's called Sonic Something nowadays and the pun doesn't work out well. IMO.
Wish I had come up with Cat Power!

Nice designs you did. Very organic looking and sutable for space music. Did you do these in Photoshop? I especially like the 2nd one although it is hard to see the title in the resolution you used but that is easily remedied. Thanks for the help.
That's a nice change of the original word, I will consider that. It rolls off the tounge much better than Sonicforia.Actually, if you just remove the C, you get the very pleasant sounding "Soniforia". I rather like it. Great designs Mark, I love the sci-fi look to the font that you used, very nice. I like the second one alot, is that done with the original image. It looks very much like a nebulae in deep space. I may need to start a collection of all these designs and give the winner (my favorite) a free lifetime supply of appreciation
(I could also include a free cd in the package too) Keep them coming this is fun. I hope to have some more designs up tomorrow.

Yeah, based on that last image you shared a few posts back; some simple dsb-flux filters with a lot of layering opacity going on. These were done rather quickly though (it being early here)

Many nice designs. I must say Soniccat, that while I like your covers, I really don't like the font. Of course this is only my preference, and I'm certainly not an artist, but the font screams macrame planters, odd 70's mirrors and ceramic cats to me. Hey, that could be a good thing - just not for me. I'm partial to PHz's, but I haven't herad the music, have no background in art, and no creative vision. I can, however, stick a spoon in my eye on command.

They were both based on a ultra-garish space photo collage I did in photoshop a while back.
I think most of (if not all) the photos came from APOD, as well
Here's a big pic of the original collage, without any of the color alterations:

The title font was done in Nasalization, a freeware font by Ray Larabie, based on the NASA logo. Font available here:
http://www.typodermic.com/fonts/14.html
I did your name in SF Atarian System, a freeware font by Derek Vogelpohl of Shy Fonts, based on the old Atari logo. Font available here:

Enjoy, and hope you get some inspiration!

Nice designs everyone!
Since I've never heard any of Soniccat's music I went with a middle of the road design. Everyone keeps mentioning the "organic" look. I got the impression that they (Soniccat's covers)were more like corroded metal. That's why there's the blue(clean) and orange(rust) colors.
Perhaps a link to one of your(Soniccat's)songs would help while I make another cover design? Not until later tonight after I get home from work though.
Voidoid Surrealist: Very trippy. I like.

The second I mean (corroded metal). Obviously the first one is space.

Perhaps organic was the wrong word. I am not quite sure how to describe what I am trying to acheive. Your design is excellent. No need to wack yourself upside the head.Nice designs everyone!
