I'M SO HAPPY !!! YEAH YEAH Very Happy
:!:
Congratulations Zio!
I know how do you feel! I felt the same way about a year ago when I rolled home with a Hammond C3 and Leslie 147.
ik.

Congrats Zio! Beautiful playing on that mp3 by the way.. And of course, beautiful sound from the beastie :D
Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.

That was my first keyboard! A marvel, truly. But I moved around a lot and tuning was a huge chore. BTW, tines do break with heavy use. They come in several sizes which you cut to length when you install (you likely know all this)--if you run across some, be sure to grab 'em.

Tom

PS I bought it new for $800 usd. I literally have no idea what I did with it!! Ah, the early years.

Very nice Hommage to Ray Charles and your dad :D

I am keeping this on my playlist!

Your Rhodes sounds really good and you have skills. Awesome man.
Play it by ear

It's my version of "Georgia on my mind", a little tribute to the great Mr Ray Charles Robinson, may the Lord bless him (and my dad!)

The mp3 and the A/D conversion (Yamaha 01v) made it lose some quality, the instruments sounds far better from live.
For now I don't have a Fender amp so I just connected it to the Behringer V-Amp pro and set it up quickly with a tube preamp simulation... I must admit that this behringer sounds better than what I'd expected though :)

Sorry for my bad playing... now I'll have to study some more piano technique ;)

Bad playing? I wonder how many here would love to play "as bad" as you do!

Nice catch, Zio. 8) You'll enjoy it!

I found a Suitcase 73 silver sparkle top at a garage sale a couple of years ago and paid $100 for it. Everything works, but it's suffered the wrath of several small children who thought it was some sort of drum you could beat on! :( I have plans to send it off and have it refurbished somewhere.

Anyone here have any recommendations for a good Rhodes tech?

BTW... if you're a do-it-yourselfer, here's a link to the service manual along with a guide for stretch tuning and various adjustments / maintenance.

It seems like all the Rhodes on ebay are expensive. Where do you guys find these ridiculous sub-$300 deals?

Most of the time you don't find them. They just happen by chance, and you've got to be ready to strike. I found mine through an ex-boss who was test driving a new car and just happened to pass a garage sale and noticed a "funny looking keyboard" that was silver and sat on top of an amp. I knew what it was, got a cash advance from work, hopped in the company truck and grabbed it within an hour of the phone call.

I should hit more garage sales. You never know what you'll find.

Another BTW, Ziokiller...

MIDI for your Rhodes! :o

Well, I never!
I think I'll check this place for restoration. They seem to have good feedback. Thanks for getting me off of my ass with this thread!

The clip you posted is great! Sounds like your Rhodes is happy and healthy. :D

Oh! This is marvelleous!

Would you like doing a clicked version so we could work out some little arrangement?
I know, it takes away some of the rubato mood, but I think this could also be cool with a little band playing along. Maybe herodotus (or whomever) could play some decent drums. I could do bass or guitars, if required. And maybe even some choir would be appropriate.

But hey, even if not, this is just great - the vocals are pretty cool (no need to mention the Rhodes, it's beautiful!).
