For spite then I'll vote you my #1 without even listening, just so I can come last. (I was lucky so many was DQ last month else I'd be in the relegation zone).

Enter it. I'll give you a #1 right off the bat for that. But bring the drums up higher in the mix.

That is very clever, very annoying, and quite disturbing. :hihi:

Oh, and I think I know how I'll compose this months (if I do it at all).

I live on the corner of a busy 4-way stop. I'll just hang a mic out the window and record all the boom cars driving by. From that I can get an average BPM and rhythm template for what's popular. Add a really infintile bass line and an angry sounding spoken/shouted lyric with liberal doses of the F word. There you go. Commercial music, mother f**ker.

I was thinking I'd make a sappy semi-metal ballad with a country undercurrent (like something Whitesnake, Extreme and Aerosmith could sing together with Billy Ray Cyrus), mix up some words about together we stand, united against oppression, flying the flag of freedom, firefighters and fastfood - it doesn't have to be cutting edge to sell shitloads...
I'm aiming at the texan market. Does it have to sell everywhere?

Edit: No, wait - boyband. No, girlband. R&B girl power band. No, hang on, angry teen band.

I haven't made up my mind yet.

Actually, seeing as how this month is my 3 year anniversary for never having missed a KVR contest, I should put up all the combined project files and have Markleford Mashup Month! :D

Too bad I hadn't planned ahead for that and got the files together! :? :P :hihi:

Paulie Phonick -- I swear to God you stole the very first idea I had when I saw the theme this month!

Great minds think alike. So do petty ones.

That's not a judgement, just an observation.

Anyway, here's my first review:

Paulie Phonick vs. John Cage, 4'33" -- Hard to go wrong here when you're doing a literal interpretation of a classic. However, I think this suffers from the 2 minute time limit. You might also want to check but I think you might have over compressed this. I had to really turn it down to appreciate it. That being said, your musicianship is impeccable and the sound quality, other than the problem mentioned, is astounding. Great job!

Sorry but what's a Mashup again!

Post

Thanks emdot! :) Once I've seen this months theme I knew I had to hurry with my tune :hihi: As for the compression, well, it's a commercial tune - it's got to be compressed as heavily as possible :D

Take two or more songs and mash them together.
