IIRS! Nice sounds there esp. the swells. I like the balance. The clean tone is not what I after but I am sure really fits well in a ton of settings. Keep playing and thanks for the variety of examples.

how about an di of each clip so there two files one clean and one dirty I think this would be useful for developers. also wave files not mp3 files

Doesn't suprise me

My sound evolved to fit into a mix, rather than atand alone: it is almost entirely mid range. (The cab is a big part of that.. )

I guess the plectrum noise you refer to is the spill from the guitar itself.. I can't really run my rig at stage levels in my little flat unfortunately, but I tend to crank it a bit higher when I'm recording a real take to reduce the noise, and let the power amp sing a bit more..

Heres a rig i use alot to jam with just for fun mostly, i dont record much cause im not really in a band and i only play guitar haha. Havnt been playing guitar but for about 3 years now. So im not the greatest lol but i really enjoy playing.

I use mostly guitar rig (all guitar rig in the case of the audio clip) but i like to use some other amp sims and i really love to throw in MDA Cabinet sim on the 4x12> setting it adds a really good "airy" sound to it. Heres a quick riff i recorded about a week ago with guitar rig just for fun with a preset i came up with.

Here's me.. I'm a bit rusty I'm afraid.

Starts with my favorite nearly-clean sound, then I push my right pedal forward to bring in a bit more pre-amp gain and some compression. Then a few crunchy power chords, followed by a distorted lead sounding very bare and dry without its usual delay & verb (don't ask me why I played that, never have before.. ). Then I finish up with a couple of my trademark 'abstract' sounds..

Gibson Les Paul Custom plus
Digitech 'Valve FX' pre-amp / FX unit
Mesa 20/20 power amp
home-made speaker cab with mahogany front baffle, one Greenback & one modern Celestion (the other Greenback needs a re-cone)
ART X-15 MIDI foot controller

SE Electronics Z5600A Valve mic (set to cardiod, ponting at Greenback, and panned hard left)

Beyer M88 dynamic mic (aimed at other speaker & panned hard right)

Mics were positioned about 18" from the cones, using my Mackie 1402VLZpro pre-amps. (I just dropped the mics in about their usual place).

No plug-ins used at all: the only effects are on the Digitech unit..

Those pad-like sounds are brilliant!

Ok, I was going to ask whether you were using a compressor and suggest that you had the attack set poorly, but your answer makes more sense.

I that case I like the clean sounds more than I would have imagined, not being a fan of Boogie amps at all.

Maybe it's your DIY cab, or maybe it's the fact that you're not using sm57/8s; there's more sparkle than I would expect from a Boogie.

What's missing? I'd like to hear some Cortex recordings. Jens IIRC was a big fan of this ampsim so it would be nice to hear something from him. Sascha also said that he liked it. DO YOU HEAR ME JENS AND SASCHA?
Aleksey's Boogex is also a new and interresting ampsim so if someone wants to upload something is welcome.
Lunch Money I think is using a Behringer SansAmp-like pedal so I'd like to hear something from him too

I am also curious about PODs and VAMPs or real SansAmps so if anyone have one of those units go ahead.

And where is Amplitube or even Amplitube 2 (do you hear me IK guys?)

I don't think I 'll post something from my amp (Peavey Bravo) soon cause I am leaving for the weekend (damn hot down here, I'd better go swimming

Thanx Gordon. I am affraid that I won't be a good partner for a jazz jam. When I said that I don't play jazz at all it was not fake modesty. It's the plain truth. I can play jazz lines or chords but I don't know what to play

. I 've never studied jazz harmony or improvisiation. In fact the only thing I really studied is classical guitar (I was pretty good at the age of 15 but now I am 38 and I suck) Now if you know some good online resources to help a jazz newbie like me it would be great.

Regarding the sound I think the more significant part besides the player is the guitar. I remember when I saw George Benson with McCoy Tyner on piano he was playing his Ibanez with just a Twin and the sound was awesome. A pretty underrated player mainly because of the bedroom jazz he released at a later stage of his career.

Clean DI-ish sound, really 80ish. Added a bit of chorus (Logics internal one) for authenticity. Tom Anderson, bridge and middle PU in single coil mode through the VAmp.

Same sound as above, this time used for some noodling. I played over some lame housy backing (slapped together in a minute) because that's the only way to hear what (and if at all) the sound will be working like.

Starts with some chords - just to demonstrate that it's all down to the interactive side of things. I'm switching around PUs and turning up the guitar volume. I added a bit of reverb and delay, because that's just what i almost allways use when playing with this sound.
This is my favourite "hybrid" sound for a lot of things.
Oh, it's again the Anderson through the VAmp.

As said, will see whether I can come up with some more sounds later on.

I'm using the "Tube Preamp", which is the one without any speaker simulation, all settings almost in neutral position, compressor with the second LED lightning.
Btw, I also get some pretty good results recording the guitar all the way straight into the soundcard (using the Hi-Z input). It's most likely the guitar doing the sound in this case - I even refused an offer to exchange it with an original (old!) 335 in cherry red, which I'd really love to own, but it just wasn't sounding as good.
String gauges are 11-48 with a plain G string. I could use a bit thicker strings occasionally, but as I'm using the axe for blues/riff and funk stuff as well I need to be able to bend the g-string, plus I don't want too much boomy bottom end either.
