Cat Thread :-)
Not gonna read though ... I might tear up ...

My Scooter is the Best cat ever!
Hands down
...
She is Mentioned in the ManyStation Manual as spending the entire time of Sound development for the ManyStation Samples on my lap ... She let me know when the sound was not up to par. As the manual says ...ManyStation is Scooter approved.
She is 17 years old BTW.. Just had her into the vet for a Xray tonight ... alls well but she is one skinny minny.

Here's to the Studio Cats! Their ears Know Tone!

;-)

EDIT ::: Oh yeah .... watch the speakers, wires and other assorted goodies... My 2 cats are good but i have seen Nightmares. Never leave em alone in the Studio till the trust is solid!

The other guy is Quincy .....aka: Fat boy ...opposite problem to skinny minny.

Get a VSTi that will keep cats away from your equipment.

watch out for fur.. cats shed some of their fur.. yes, this is a shocker to you im sure..

just watch out for it clogging stuff.. as long as you keep things tidy and vaccum regularly it shouldnt be a problem.. but if you dont.. well.. you might want to start now. you'll soon find out why (dont vaccumm your sofa or recliner for a couple weeks while owning a cat that gets on it - then rub your hand across the sofa you'll snowball a giant furball) it gets everywhere and LOVES electronics..

actually I have 2 cats.. a ~14 or 15 year old and a ~2 year old.. the older cat is mostly behaved and isnt too curious anymore.. sleeps most of the day.

the younger one LOVES to stuff her head into any cup thats within her reach, usually resulting in knocked over cup and thus spilt beverage. as hink mentioned before, keep this in mind and consider not leaving drinks around when you're not present to supervise.

I've found that as long as I keep a clear space, usually on my desk, where the cat can see my face, that they stay pretty calm. Congrats on grabbing one from a shelter. I rescue strays and I have 27 of them now. Luckily, I have lots of land for them to roam on. I've only had one speaker that had a tiny little hole put in it. I do cover my speakers with cardboard when I leave. Cats will listen to you. If they get to out of control, they get to spend ten minutes in the bathroom. They usually learn after a couple of times and stay calm. The hair can be a real problem. If equipment has a fan, I put some window screen over the hole to catch the hair.
Your very silence shows you agree.-Euripides

you can do this with french with your sig other.. (as long as they dont know french)

just say something in french with some passion.. anything.. go to babelfish and say anything and translate it into french, the repeat it back to your partner.. 'vous êtes laid et avez une mauvaise odeur'

it doesnt even have to make sense..

I've got a cat named Trouble. He's tall, lean and solid black, and he lives up to his name. But he does have a thing for eating expensive cables. He has actually cost me quite a bit over the years, from chewing up various wires, even once eating an expensive custom made ribbon cable, and once chewed through a lamp cord, enough to give him a serious injury on his mouth, could easily have killed him (he recovered, and is a little better about chewing now.)

Needless to say, he is banned from my studio, but occasionally he gets in (he *flies* in if he gets the chance) and he hides behind a big speaker that's hard to get around to extract him.

Despite being a total destructive butthole, he's everybody's favorite cat. He's extremely loving and really digs being around people, likes music, and likes to watch birds from the window sill. And he shits about a kilogram per week and eats £10 worth of food every month. And I have a large box of patch cables and so on that have his distinctive teeth mark signature.

If you want to avoid this problem, use bitter apple. Normal cats won't go near it. Doesn't work on Trouble though.

Just don't set a hotkey on your keyboard to shut down. My cat Bugsy has turned off my computer a few times. Lost some work a couple of times.
He is 16 and still scraps with bigger cats in the neighborhood. Usually wins too.

Bastards! Every last one of you! :x
I wish I could have a cat but my studio apartment is too small...

Actually I sort of do have a cat...
A previous tenant started feeding a neighborhood stray and so now the cat is always hanging around my duplex. Although she's really friendly, she's just too wild to be an indoor cat... (She lives to do battle with the other feline hellions in the area! I've nicknamed her "Scabby Tabby" on the basis of her breed and perpetual state of disrepair... In fact I just heard her "war-cry" as I sit here typing this...)

I would like a more domesticated beast, not one that's cuddling up to you one minute and then ripping your face off the next... that's what girlfriends are for! :D :P :D :P
