Look up Rob Pappen Blue and Rapture from Cakewalk. They recently added expansion packs(Rapture) and new preset banks (Blue). And,i really like the new Albino3,big difference in quality if compared to previous versions.

I have sold a few hardware synths lately going all soft, and i am actually not missing them :D
I like the vst's for the simplicity and being able to have all the options i need on screen instead of having to bounce add effects, and bounce again.

Soundwise there is not so much difference either between hard and soft in terms of sound quality (In a mix there will be almost impossible to tell the difference).

I agree 100%. However, it's just a matter of personal choice and comfort. I can understand people who miss the physical aspect of hardware synths when working with soft synths.
As I said, I recently sold my Access Virus and changed it for X-station as a controller and Vanguard. I don't miss my Virus at all. I loved it, but I love my new x-station+vanguard (+ wusikstation + synth 1 +etc) combo, and it's more confortable to my way of compising.

I agree too.

After using Zebra2 for a track currently, I'm starting to be more and more convinced that I don't need a Virus :D lol

Good stuff George.:tu:
Great demo of what the discoDSP is capable of.
Can I ask what kind of other effect plugins you used?

i think it just the synth that was used here

aquar, Manuel only used Cubase Reverb and Discovery for that demo.

Post

ah you used a reverb even if is it just the cubase reverb you should have mentioned it !
for example on adventus demos they use only their synth , same as sytrus btw !

Then I am impressed.
The discoDSP is far more powerful than I first thought.

It deserves a fair shake though, I think, as a solid VA synth and worthy of anyone's consideration who is looking for one. With 4osc per voice, 2 filters, 3 LFOs (with 68 waveform shapes), the standard variable oscillator types + 60ish spectral waves, an extensive modulation matrix, vocoder and a wide variety of other effects (including one of the best built-in phaser effects I have heard), it holds its own as another solid offering in the VA arena.
It would f**king well want to at 2 or 3 times the price of its competitors. I can't believe people are gullible enough to see the value in such a ridiculous premium.

Because its a sad joke, perhaps? Sure looks it next to its competitors. 32 on-board presets, puh-leeeeese!

So what? They have the effects built-in. What matters is how they sound raw. Anyway, I'm not 100% sure but I'm reasonably certain that Adventus uses standard SE oscillator and filter modules. It certainly sounds to me like it does. But its very well put together and works a treat for what it does.

discovery have built in effect if i can remember too , the point is when you do a demo of something you only demo the product not a synth with external effect on it
But if the synth have built in effect it is ok it could be labeled as demo
just imagine this thing
for example i make a demo of one ping only using antares filter , would i call it one ping only demo ?
Perhaps the comparison is a bit extreme but you'll see what i mean !
and last point adventus don't use SE modules i am 99% sure

I see your point but I don't begrudge the use of a reverb since most sequencers have them built in.
Indeed the discoDSP has a few effects ...chorus,phaser,panning and delay amongst a few.

As for adventus I honestly don't think its in the same league as the discoDSP but that's just my opinion.
