I just found this and I'm completely blown away. Amazing! This completely nails the Roland jx-8p. I'm just floored at how detailed the emulation is. Better than most commercial stuff IMHO. Thank you for this great instrument.

A way to load banks is still missing ..... using VFX on OSX
Though I think it works the same as the VFX Windows version too FYI

I am still working on the full SYSEX implementation. I was struggling with some bugs. I hope that I manage to finish it soon...loungedumore wrote:A way to load banks is still missing ..... using VFX on OSX

BTW just to be clear VSTi's running in VFX treats bank loading the same way as single patch loading ....none , unless the plugin itself has a way to load them ...though I think you understood that .

I just noticed that it produces a constant background noise. I don't think I've noticed before. I'm guessing it _could_ be by design, to make it more like hardware units, but still..

Indeed, it is an attempt to recreate the noisy chorus, but it does not sound very well. Anyway, you can adjust the level of the noise, if you click on 'settings'. There are two kinds of noise: the SELF NOISE, which enters the signal path before the filters, and creates some of the character of the filter. The other is the CHORUS NOISE, which is added just before the chorus. Just turn this knob all the way down, if you dont like it.ermi wrote:I just noticed that it produces a constant background noise. Cheers, good to know. I didn't think of looking there.
Oh and for "Downsampler Filter Stages", is it better to increse that, sound wise (for authenticity)? I notices increasing the value cuts some highs etc.

Well, it is up to your taste, and also the sound you want.ermi wrote:Cheers, good to know. I didn't think of looking there.

In my early versions, I just had a hard-wired cascade of 8 SVF as a kind of half-band filter before downsampling, but it was a bit heavy on the CPU. THat's why I started experimenting with less filter stages, which will be faster, but will introduce some more aliasing artefacts, _IF_ the signal before the downsampler contains significant power above Nyquist. You might hear that in sounds, where the VCF if fully open. Since in most sounds, the VCF will not be fully opened, the downsampling is not that crucial, and therefore I made the number of downsampler filter stages a parameter, so you can reduce it to save some CPU.
In this synth, however, the oscillators are already nearly aliasing free, so you might even get away with lower settings even for sounds with open filter.
Cheers,
Martin

Just noticed this plug-in. Really nice one, I like it!
But how can we import these extra banks into it? And how can we save our own patches?
