Sorry for just in same time adding first bug I think I found, at least it happens evrytime

In the second track I have added "strumming" as variation. Whenever I try to remove, there goes RC....

Windows 7, 64 bit, 3.0b15

EDIT: seems to be content specific, removed the track, added just a simple bass generator and only strumming as variation, then I can remove. Maybe I did something which logically wont work ?

If I might ask a favour/request in case of additional help information especially for the idea tool:
- a simple tutorial of the general workflow for making/starting a song with the idea tool like "making a simple song with the idea tool in five minutes (or maybe ten ) would be really appreciated.

- I personally (as an old fashioned guy) would prefer something in steps as pdf or something but of course in these multimedia days (little sigh...) a video would do

i just started to try new (wonderful!) Idea Tool !!

i get this error message when using my progression library
and there is no Roman Numeral notation...all absolute chords.

after a few generation i added Apply Rhythm variation to the tracks and it seems
applies only the first phrase in the track

In phrase window the play with unmutet tracks button do only play 1 long note and not correct what single play do. can hear when all tracks except this are mute very good. before beta 14 it work. should i do a video ?

Still testing Idea Tool,
i tried several times to use second and third
(Use existing Melody Track..& Generate Melody Track..)
Workflow options but so far RC freezes on every attempt.

also
Melody Generator acts strange if i randomize globally
as in this gif
at first part of gif i am randomizing globally and as you can see MG generations not successive
at second part of gif i am randomizing only the MG track
i hope it make sense

just realized using lock to scale with Chord Generator very useful
(bye bye hi - lo jumpy chord pitches without using Limit Range variation )
especially if you combine with Spread Out Chord Notes gives very nice wide fat chord voicing sounds!

but it seems loosing the chord extension as in the gif
is this is expected behavior?

Very good point! I made the 'lock to scale' function work better for 4 and 5 note chords:


You are right, it is very useful. Please note that for chord notes it does not matter which option you choose of the three options. It was designed for a melody phrase that preserves its shape even when the scale changes. Not only does it preserve the shape of the figure, but also scale notes are re-mapped according to the new scale. Very useful in jazz music. But you can use it with chord notes to achieve smooth voice leading.

Just realized one very important point from the old idea tool is gone but I would still really need it:

- the ability too save the "idea" components of the song and the tracks. In the old tool it was possible, you can just save the generated tracks with the phrases and load it in another song

Why I need it:

- I have put together a whole idea song with master track, tracks with phrases, variations etc.

- now I import a new midi song with an (automatically but thats not the point) precomposed midisong lets say with melody and four additional tracks

- now I want to use the "use existing melody track then harmonize melody then render other tracks" from the idea tool ON this song

- that wont work cause the imported tracks - of course - dont have prepared phrases for the idea tool

So I would need the opportunity to save the "idea" components to apply on another track.

Hope that could be possible to add in some way.

Seems another bug in idea tool when something not works as expected. It then destroyes the view of the main track of the idea tool (see picture).

It is with both alternative workflows to the default one:
- "use existing melody track then harmonize melody then render other tracks"
- "generate melody track then harmonize melody then render other tracks"

When I use the second option I get an error message before saying that there are problems with the rule settings and I should allow more good chords. I wonder if it logically could work at all to generate a melody with a given chord progression and then reharmonize which will lead to a totally different (that what happens in my case) chord progression ?

A question I just not really understand: is it possible in general to use the "use existing melody track then harmonize melody then render other tracks" of the idea tool with imported/composed midi tracks from OUTSIDE the idea tool or only for melody composed with generators INSIDE the idea tool ?

I really love the "then harmonize melody then render other tracks" function, would be great to use it on existing melodys not generated by the idea tool.

I have looked that the rule settings in master track and melody track match (Dminor, same progression rule), but wont help.

Think the 2 alternativ settings to the default one (reharmonize) is still really buggy....
