Thanks, Dragon!
And Luigi, 66 people voted, 65 tracks participated and yours is #30... in my math that's about 55%, who share your taste! People, who recognize the OSC as a part of their home for a long time, longer than me even, celebrate when they come near your received amount of appreciation and go for far more mainstream like styles. Therefore, considering your off the wall and unique style, your songs are very successful here and you have no reason to really waste energy on feeling disappointment.

Besides me, more than half of all of us are looking forward to your tracks FOR SURE. :hyper:
But, to be fair, I think most of us are looking forward to all new tracks that are coming in, of course. :)

TyrellN6 was exceptional, though, because as I listen through some of the tracks right now, the general quality is kind of outstanding. It's so full, warm, round, but still spicy... pretty freaking incredible.

Congrats to the winners! Superb stuff!
(Even if I would have wanted to see Rockingricky placed in the top..)

Really good tunes this month. I need to step up my game if I ever am to climb the podium. :)
This is true for both the patch creation and the mixing part as well. thanx for pushing the boundaries, guys!
Analogue and digital alike - inside and outside the box. All good music is done with passion and love, not religious convictions!

Hi Taron, yes I wrote 50% indicatively, 5% more? Cool, <grin>, but still low to feel myself at home. I feel at the doorstep.LOL

Thanks my friend, the point is that I don't feel my style, and others low voted here, as "off the wall".

Right, there're always some surprises coming from the OSC.

The tune you made is cheerful and friendly and nice, and that's something to be proud of, in itself. On occasion I've noticed I'm humming the main melody here. It sticks to your head and is a success in that sense.

There's just a huge rift between that and your perspective on the whole thing. I'm hesitating whether I should comment on this any further, but maybe for perspective:
wagtunes wrote:I was the first one to finish, taking all of about 2 hours.
You used two hours in making that track :), seriously. You said it's just for fun, and that you don't care about how it fares, and pushed it out in two hours. It sounds cheerful and nice - but also sounds like it was indeed made in two hours. Taken as it is, that's not a bad thing at all, and doesn't in any way mean you are bad. When a two-hour effort goes head to head with tracks that have been crafted for days or even weeks, it's in a tough company.
wagtunes wrote:To be consistently told you are slightly better than the worst of the worst gets tiresome after a while.
The point is, these results aren't telling you that, and don't make yourself believe that sort of thing. If you put in two hours, and the track places near the bottom end, it's not indicative of you being "slightly better than the worst of the worst." In my opinion that placement is to be expected, for a two-hour effort, and reading too much else into it is just being too hard on yourself.
I wasn't going to respond to this but I will.

Bull cookies.

7 people scored my track 4 or better. If 2 hours of effort rates a 1 score then everybody would have given me a 1 score.

Bob Dylan wrote Blowin In The Wind in 10 minutes.

Somebody with zero talent could spend 100 hours on a track and it will still sound like crap.

I could understand it if EVERYBODY thought my track was crap. But 30 people scored me a 3, which is what my track IS. I know an average track of music after 40 years of composition. This was an average track of music. The 10 people who gave me 1s did so simply because they didn't like it taste wise. It had NOTHING to do with that I put 2 hours into it.

Stupidest explanation for why songs score low I've ever heard in my life.

hey mate, don't be so hard on yourself. i think you said you spent two hours on your track. i think that's amazing. i'm almost embarrassed to tell you how long i spent making my.... Snare. I probably spent a cumulative of 4 hours just trying to figure out how to make patches and layer to create the snare for my 'Space Echoes' entry. even then i was tweaking the Sn patches right 'til the end. but, i learned an amazing amount doing that. I'm working on 92 and already have some nice (better) sounding percs b/c of what i learned doing this. it's all about learning and having fun.

don't hang it up. music is supposed to be fun and like others said i think you had a nice melodic idea. i'm sure there's lots of people on here (including me) that would be happy to help you level-up your game if that's what you want.

keep your head up, i hope to see you down the road in an osc as i intend to do another one of these b/c i had fun listening to all of the talent that's here.

wow, guys, thank you for putting me on the virtual podium! Not expected at all, and very humbled. I had a blast doing this and look forward to participating again in the future. There was some great music in this competition and honestly it was really refreshing. Also, thank you for the nice comments on Soundcloud, as always I hope the music I make leaves you feeling happier and hopefully takes you on a journey, as it were. Big up to the admin who organizes this and who has (ostensibly) written some cool software to score all the tracks. See you guys in 92...

There is a table with individual votes? I want to know if I received at least 1 "5 points" :hihi:

wagtunes, I would very much appreciate if you could give me some details of your point of view on my piece "after watching Amphibian Man", which by your definition is below average (2 points)
Thank you.

Ok. Wow :), well, maybe put in four hours next time and rise well above the three point target level? [Edit: Okay, this was somewhat mean, albeit in jest, I'm sorry man. Your reaction kind of surprised me.]

To be sure, my message was meant as an encouragement: like hey come on, you used two hours to make your tune, remember to keep things in perspective, don't feel bad about yourself if it finished down below, amongst hugely more polished stuff. It's a catchy tune nevertheless. So yes, wasn't exactly expecting a reply like above, hah. It's clear that there's some serious perspective-out-of-whack stuff happening, but now I'm also sure it's not worth it to discuss it any further ;)

On a different note:

I am currently stalking Guenon, creeping outside his window to see what he's working on next ...

Oh did I say that out loud?

Haahah, well, something completely different :)!

BUT, at the moment (like, literally right at this very moment) I'm going nuts over one particular element that just won't budge. I need to give my ears some rest, and I don't know... it's like it always is: if it doesn't end up sounding convincing enough, it's not going in. So I'm not even making any promises of entering, yet, as usual.

It's been three days like this, I already reverted to an earlier project version and so on, so clearly I'm still far away from that "okay, I crossed the barrier on this one!" ´moment :D

Went to see on the balcony if z is hanging around somewhere there.

:P
