Ok, I might dont get it then.
In my opinion a better comparison would be Tantra, or even Shaperbox. As Portal and Infiltrator dont have too much in common.

There should be plenty you can do if you're using this great variety of effects with a low dry/wet setting. for example just the "distort" effect has 12 different types of distortion. I'd be very surprised if you can't achieve what you want or something you're happy with with this varied and versatile collection of effects. I haven't ever used it for that yet, but now you've said it i make comparison to the effects included with Xfer Nerve (which is £150) and yeah i think these effects should be ok for the task.Magnator wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 8:18 pm
How is the usability from Infiltrator 2 in your opinion regarding the changing from Drums and Percussion to an ineresting new sound-character?
I tend to start with the filters to make something rhythmic with the MSEGs. I use Infiltrator for extreme special effects for example during the breakdown and buildup toward the drop (i make various dance music). I can always make something unique and different than before with these effects. I use Infiltrator for compression. It has 4 types of compression, which sound good to me, but hardly any control over it which i find useful to just quickly get a result. If i need more control then i use something different. I have used Infiltrator for simple saturation at low wet/dry of the "distort" "tube" type and it sounds good.Magnator wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 8:18 pmInteresting, could you be so nice and tell me what are the main topic for you with Infiltrator regarding the sound source that you change etc. ?Spring Goose wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 11:33 amI don't have Portal but Infiltrator is exceptional, i use it almost every day! I can't imagine Portal is anywhere as good but maybe i'm wrong.Magnator wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 9:07 am Hi,
very interesting topic about this multi-effect tool.
Could anybody be so nice and tell me what plugin are more interesting, Infiltrator 2 or Output Portal?
Cheers![]()
I wouldn't bother with the complete bundle. I have the complete bundle but rarely use the other plugins. I haven't had any useable results from Pitchmonster, but maybe that's me, somebody else can say. I use Texture to trigger extra drum and percussion sounds and then for example automate the decay. It's nothing i couldn't do anyway by just programming some midi and use any synth, but it does include some great sounds and it is very quick and easy. I'm quite sure that Texture would be useful for many creative applications that i haven't thought of, so maybe it's just me (i call myself a novice and this is a deep plugin with a learning curve).Magnator wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 8:18 pm
I make some thoughts about the complete DM bundle, looks like at the moment they offer a 40% discount. Could be a deal with Infiltrator, Pitchmonster, Texture and Duck.
(On the other hand, I already use Trackspacer and guess that Duck will do the same, but this is not the right Threat for this question, don´t wanna drift away from the main Topic here.)
Meanwhile - thank you very much for your answers, that is really kind of you guys.
Also btw Infiltrator comes with quite a lot of presets which can be useful for some creative inspiration. Infiltrator helps me get a song started and then later Infiltrator also can be used for polishing various parts. Disclaimer: that is just me (i make various dance music) and i can't promise it would be the same for you if you make something different. What sort of stuff do you make btw?

i have both of these. I don't have Tantra 2 i have Tantra 1. I'd recommend Tantra. It makes stuff quite different than Infiltrator but yeah there is some crossover between the 2 plugs. Tantra is a bargain if you get it during one of their many sales (this may change now Dirk has gone, i dunno but i doubt it). I have had my best results with Tantra by putting a delay either before or after it.El°HYM wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 10:02 pm

Shaperbox i also have but i've not got such good immediate results with Shaperbox like i have with Infiltrator and Tantra. Shaperbox comes with a huge amount of presets but many are similar to each other.

@Spring Goose:
Thank you for your detailed answer, I really appreciated that.
I love Tantra as well, and use Tantra 1 because I like the GUI more vs. Tantra 2.
I guess I will spend some time with the Infiltrator Demo and who knows - maybe it will catch me.
I like Sound-Design tools like plugins or/and hardware a lot.
Actually I consider the buying of the sugar bytes bundle - also great Sound Design tools out of my seight.

I own Tantra 2, Infiltrator 2 and Shaperbox 3. All great plugins but for quick creative inspiration i almost always reach for Tantra 2 of the three. The global and per effect randomize function is really good and I find i just get usable results out of it much quicker than the other 2. Shaperbox for me takes the most amount of work. All are great, but time / inspiration is important to me these days.
One other plugin that can fall into this category that i often use over Infiltrator and Shaperbox is Snap Heap w/ its snap in's. It's such an easy plugin to follow and setup quickly.

We've got a beta of this internally now. If you drop a note to support and want to try it let me know. It's missing some UI niceties still but I'd like to know if it works for you.EarthCry wrote: Wed Dec 14, 2022 12:16 am Any chance for program change to be implemented so you can call up presets live? I've formulated quite a nice live looping setup in Ableton around various plugins that feature program change such as Pigments. If this plug could call up presets from a list that would be utterly incredible as this is by far my favorite multi effect.

I'm trying to turn the effect slots on and off with MIDI notes, but can't quite figure out how to set it up in Ableton Live 11. The manual just tells me I "need to route MIDI to Infiltrator". But how do I do that when Infiltrator is on a MIDI track, after an instrument?
Edit: We’ll, turns out it’s in the FAQ. Who knew! https://deviousmachines.freshdesk.com/s ... di-routing

make a dummy clip track ?
I'm going to look into it, i use a lot of instrument program changes in my live sets, but never actually used any for effects.
In some sets i use dummy audio clips set up to change a delay time for example, via a static envelope setting. but this is more an 'automation' setting rather than a program change.
I imagine you could also just route a dedicated MIDI channel to Infiltrator and only use it for the purpose of program changes.
I'm excited to incorporate Infiltrator into live sets, how is this beta working out for people? Any news?
